Flying in one week :dance3: so excited. Suddenly realised I've forgotten if our bags get checked straight through to MCO or do we collect them in Newark? -did this same flight a while ago but the dementia must be kicking in!:rotfl:
Can anyone who's flown continental remind me what happens please. Also hoping to do on line check in this time. How long before flight should we arrive at airport (Edinburgh) with bags?

Thanks, Ann :)

Hi Ann,
You collect them and and drop again. A few years since we went via Newark but it was easy enough just very busy thru immigration.
If we do online check in we arrive about 90 mins before, others prefer 2-3 hours.

Thanks for your reply Wayneg.
I could only remember how strict the guy at immigration was at Newark but couldn't remember dealing with the cases.

We usually arrive at the airport hours early anyway -too excited to sit at home once everythings ready :cool1: hoping we might get better seats doing on-line check in as we're a bit split up on the first leg.

Hi
we just travelled via newark in May and didnt have bags to collect.in either direction..they went straight through..doesnt seem to be a consistent approach unfortunately.....and immigration was really quick - less than 5 mins.......

Hi fellow Fifer,
Hope you don't mind a few more questions... Did you fly from Edinburgh? Do you remember if flight emptied from both front and back? Our seats are near back and we only have 1 1/2 hrs between flights so fingers will be crossed ( and legs - no time for toilet break:rolleyes1) Hoping I might be able to change seats at on-line check in so we can get in to immigration queue quicker. If you checked in on-line was there a seperate bag drop or do we just queue at continental desk? How was entertainment system? Sorry -so many questions!!

We travelled from Edinburgh in June on our way to Montreal, the plane emptied from the front, immigration was a nightmare as we were put in a line that didn't move so if you can manage it try to get as near the US citizen line as possible as they take people from the other lines then. Baggage pick up and drop of was very easy, with a drop off for flights with less than an hour to take off. Also a fifer:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

We went in September and the plane emptied from the front, immigration was slow and we were at the back of the queue because we were last off the plane.

We had to collect our bags from downstairs and then take them back up to be sent on, our connection was also only 1.5 hours and we missed it so had to wait 7 hours for the next one.

Other seasoned travellers do the 1.5 hours no problem but i'll be choosing the 3 hour connection next year just in case.

On the plus side when we arrived at Orlando it was midnight and so quiet, so collecting the car was simple because there were no lines and the airport was empty.

be sure to check your bags through to orlando.

although you'll pick them up in newark to go through customs and then drop them off again right after customs, they must be checked all the way to orlando already to be able to do this..
