I booked our flight (online) to Orlando about a month ago. I was able to choose seats for our return flight, but not going. When I went to the seat selector page it showed all seats occupied. You cannot choose exit aisle seats online.

Will I be able to call closer to my departure date later this month to be assigned seats, or are we going to have to wait until we get to the airport and stand in line by the check in desk for an assignment?

Thanks!

Keep checking, sometimes people cancel. If not, there are likely to be seats opened at 24 hour online check-in. They open up seats held for preferred level flyers at that point.

Usually you also can check-in online at 24 hours and may be able to select a seat (or have one assigned) then. In some cases you may actually have to get to the gate before you can obtain a seat assignment as frequently the last batch of available seats can only be allocated by the gate agent.

this happened to me in 2009 i was able to book my departing flight seats but the return flight showed no seats available, at the 24 hour mark i logged in they had already assigned my seats and i just changed them to the ones i wanted

my son is flying mext week with this airline, same thing- confirmed paid passenger, can't choose a seat. freaked me out since he's traveling alone- but I called and the agent said they turn the seat assigning over to the airport(?) and to get assigned when he gets there...I hope it works out.....
