Continental Check-in at the end of the cruise

I have heard that on the last day of the cruise there are reps from Continental who will check you in and take your baggage from the ship to the airport. Is this true? How does it all work? If this is the case I won't have to use a larger rental car and can go for the compact. I am going on the 7 day Eastern, Oct 18th.

We used the Continental check in at the boat. Here is how it works:

When you exit the ship you go to your designated area in the terminal and look for your bags. This took about 5 minutes.

Then you either get a porter (if you have a lot of luggage) or drag your own outside.

If you get a porter, you tell them you are taking Continental, they take the bags right to the portable stand. There is a sign above each stand telling you what airline it is for.

You wait in line and check in, just like you were at the airport, and get your boarding passes. Continental reps put your bags in the back of a truck and take them to the airport. You do not see them again until you get home.

Take your carry on baggage with you - get on the bus or in your car and go to the airport. Go through security and go to the gate. No need to check in again. You already have your boarding pass.

It is SO easy! Definately a nice ending to the trip - no luggage to haul around.

We just used continental on our May 3 cruise. When you get off the ship, a porter greets you. Pick up baggs and out the doors, you go. The porter will take you, to the continental stand. They will check your baggs in and you will recieve your boarding passes also. That's it. Quick and simple.

I am happy to report that the Continental line was not that long to check in. Delta on the other hand took us 45 minutes to check in last Saturday. I think DCL must use Delta a lot for their air program because we saw tons of people tearing out their flight coupons from their documents while waiting on line.

A side note about checking in....with Delta, since our flight was at 7:30 pm we were not sure if they would let us check in that morning, but they did. The only thing was we had to get our boarding passes at the airport because we were outside the 6 hour limit for the time you can issue boarding passes until your flight.

Thanks so much for the information. Hauling a two year old is more than enough than having to deal with all that luggage!

Ugghhhh....That's not good news. I'm flying Delta in November. I always thought that DCL used US Air a lot. Darn.

I think it depends on what time you leave the ship. We had a later flight last year after our Wonder cruise and didn't leave the ship until around 8:30. After we retrieved our luggage, we were second in line at the Delta counter and were checked in and on our way in less than 5 minutes.
