Has anyone heard this? DH came home from a business trip on Continental yesterday and said it was in the paper. He's hoping it's true, because then his Frequent Flier miles on those two airlines would be in one "pot", and also because it might add flights to our local airport (we currently have Continental, not United). So, has anyone heard this?

It's been discussed in the newspapers and news channels (CNN, etc.) for the last week or so. Nothing official has been announced by either airline, but many suspect they are at least in some preliminary discussions regarding a merger.

My guess is that we'll see A LOT of changes in the airline industry in the next 12-18 months.

see flyertalk.com for the latest buzz - initial announcements were made about a month ago

my hubby is the airline BIZ, this has been mentioned before,, highly doubt will happen tho.

There are still too many airlines, so expect some consolidations or instead we'll see more failures.
