are they any good? I'm trying to take a budget trip with my youngest daughter in July, and found a perfect flight time wise out of DFW, for about $150 cheaper than anyone else...

I usually fly Southwest, but this fare is awfully good. Continental is ok, right? I promise to have reasonable expectations...

Thanks!

They are good. Book it if it meets your price and other considerations.

Continental is one of the Legacy carriers. I have been very happy with their service and aircraft. I have flown just about everyone over the last 5 years and they came off to me as one of the most professional airlines when it came to service.

I fly Continental and it's no different than American Airlines. I did prefer the onboard tv at every seat that we had on the Continental flight. Not all aircraft offer that service. I tend to chose Cont really only though because I prefer to fly though Houston-Bush rather than DFW airport.

I like Continental. Their flight times to MCO are actually much more preferable to me, but they are more $ than SW or AirTran, but they offer directs from Cle and SW doesn't. So another positive. However, if airfare doesn't go down much, I'm thinking of booking them because I can get excellent arrivals and departures. Never had a late flight with them either.

FYI - they are now merged with United. Can still find both names, but one airline. Planes will have Continental logo on the tail, United name on the side.

Actually, they are in the process of merging, but won't be one airline until 2012. They are still operating as two separate airlines, but are slowly becoming entwined.

OP - Continental is fine. I'd chose them any day over SWA.

Continental "deleted" my flight. I purchased tickets in December 2010 for June 11, 2011 flight from Cleveland to Orlando for a 9:30am Saturday morning flight.

I made all my reservations based on this flight time; hotel, car, park tickets, adrs etc.

On 5/1/11, I just happened to check our flight status to find we had been changed to a 6:30 pm flight! When I called to inquire, I was told by the customer service rep that they had "deleted" my flight. I was offered a refund or to reschedule to another flight.

I never got a satisfactory explanation for why they "deleted" it or why they did not notify me of the change. According to their website, you have to be an "elite status" member to have them notify you.

Their response to my inquiry was a typical canned letter indicating that schedule changes can happen at any time.

Buyer beware...

The merger is well underway. Little things like now being able to select seats on Continental flights on the United web site are clues.

Beginning very soon (if not already) the "new look" airport presence will be rolling out starting in Chicago and other hubs and eventually to all airports they fly out of.

We have Continental flights booked for January so I fully expect to see only one check-in counter and likely re-branded planes by then, too. :)

Buyer beware - schedule changes happen on almost every airline occasionally, especially when they are in the process of a merger.

United-Continental's "Customer Day One" is currently scheduled for June 15th, which is supposed to be the date that policies, procedures, fees, and all that fun stuff are officially harmonized between the two airlines across the entire system.

The airline is still operating under two certificates until at least late 2011 or early 2012, but don't be surprised to see United and Continental combining check in kiosks and counters, gates, and so on before then.

Some individual airports are already testing higher levels of integration before it goes system-wide.

Our Continental flight after our DREAM cruise on 4/14/11 was cancelled after a long delay. DCL transfer got us to the airport at 9:30AM, our flight was supposed to be 12:30PM. We used our Continental one day pass at the United Club Lounge to rest. We eventually had to come back to the UA lounge since they finally put us on a 7:15PM flight from MCO to EWR.
UA Club lounge staff were very helpful. DH fell asleep in the leather chair. I had my laptop, so I just went on the DisBoards. Great that United honored the CO one day pass for CO credit card holders.

Personally, I love Continental and try to fly them everytime:thumbsup2. I have not had any issues with them in the almost 20 years we've used them, and in the instances when we've have flight changes, they've been very accomodating.

I'm not too sure how I feel about the merger, but I guess we'll find out this summer as we have a flight booked with Continental, but it's on a United plane.

We love to fly Continental. They have an excellent safety record and give great service in our city, which has a Continental hub. The only thing you may find, is that they may combine flights with United flights at similar/close times if the flights aren't full. I notice that my flight isn't filling for Nov, and there are about 4 other flights to MCO that day b/w Continental and United. I fully expect them to combine flights. I took the last flight of the day, however, so moving it up won't bother me a bit. Safe travels to you!

I just checked flying out of DFW and while it is cheaper don't over look the connection in DENVER.

You'll be on a plane or in an airport all day.
