I'm planning a 4 night trip in Sept. over labor day weekend. It's 6 months ahead, and I've found that 4 months ahead is usually optimum time to book. Today Continental lowered it's direct flight airfare to $228 with tax for $250 total? Airtran out of Akron is $260 rt, plus car parking fees. Last year, same timeframe flights were as low as $150 - $180, but you never know. Should I just book or try to wait it out to see if fares drop lower:confused3? Money is tight, so every penny saved is meaningful to me. WWYD?

I also see nonstop flights with Southwest from Columbus for $85.00 each way or $191.40 with taxes. Might be worth the 2hr drive depending on number of tickets you need to purchase. Airtran has $70.00 nonstop flights or $161.40.

I also found rt tix from Pittsburgh for $118. It's a 2.45 hour drive, (so gas, time and Parking). With CLE I can take the RTA, so I can save the parking fee which winds up being 35 or more dollars. Ohhh.... why cant it be easier and cheaper from Cleveland. :confused3

Yeah, I just need 1 ticket. Thanks for the info!

We are going over Labor Day weekend as well. Continental just lowered their fare CLE to MCO. We are leaving on Saturday and returning on Tuesday and got a price of $198 before fees and taxes. The total including everything is $219. I don't see it getting too much better.

Yeah, bummer. My sis booked her flights for Fri-Monday, so I am trying to figure out what to do. I did see the lower fares for Sat and Tuesday. I even checked seating for my dates, it looks like 50 sold, maybe less. :confused: I figure I have a few days to decide before the special goes away. Wish me luck!

$118 roundtrip? Wow! What are your dates? I rarely see under $250 from PIT.

I don't know if they still are available, but as of yesterday there were flights out of Columbus to MCO for $70 each way on Airtran. I routinely check CLE, CAK, PIT and CMH. I would say CLE is almost always most expensive. SW out of CLE is usually crazy. CMH is almost always cheapest, followed by PIT and CAK.

Thanks. By the time I factor in time, parking and gas, it makes sense to stick to CLE, since I can get there on the RTA for $6. If I remember last year same weekend, I got a $209 rt rate on Airtran from Akron, then used my American Express rewards to buy a $50 discount credit, but parking cost me $35. There were also several Sping air specials to Orlando offered last year around this time, like $138 rt from CLE, but I haven't seen any offered this year? I think I am just going to bite the bullet and buy my ticket on Continental for $228+ tax = $249 direct flights. Fares could drop but most likely they will apply to Sat & Tues, and my dates are Thurs & Monday, plus Monday is the labor day holiday, and if I remember the airport was really busy that day too:scared1:. Then again, maybe I'll just go check Airtran one last time:rolleyes1

JUST grabbed flights for OCT on a similar deal....$213 RT non stop!

Saved about $500!:cool1::goodvibes

I don't know if the deals will get better, but the seats are going pretty fast!:confused3

OK, I am booked $228rt direct + tax on Continental. My luck the ticket prices will drop in a few weeks, but I didn't want to chance it, so am now set. Hope any one else needing a good price gets it! :wizard:

Last year we took a spur of the moment trip and flew out of CAK on Airtran. Used the $25 coupon special Airtran offered and booked our ticket as two one ways this allowed us to use 2 of the $25 coupons per person. We spent $130.00 a person for our trip. We prefer CAK over CLE because of the better prices and easy parking.

Yeah, I hear you on Airtran. Last year I got a lower rate, but missed the coupon by a few days:confused3 - at least I got to use it to buy seats. If another special comes up, maybe I can do a 2nd trip -:rolleyes1

Singinglizzie,

You were wise to purchase your tickets. The flights out of Cleveland are back up over $400 for Labor Day Weekend. :eek:

Yeah, I saw that they went up. It's very possible they will drop again, but because I'm returning labor day, chances are discounts won't apply to that day. Would love to get a cheap fare and go a 2nd time before:lmao:!
