I am staying at the Comtemporary Resort.. Is there a better room for a family of 5.. We are staying in the "wing" room.. not sure if this is a good place or not. Was told its $100 more a night to stay in the Tower...

Please help

My only stay at the Contemporary was in a wing room. A North Garden Wing room to be exact. It was only a short elevator ride and a 10 minute walk to the Magic Kingdom! A convenience that can't be beat! :cool1: However it was such a hike to the food and fun center that I didn't buy a refilable mug. There is only so much extra walking I'm willing to do! :goodvibes

I didn't mean to give you a bad impression. Yes it is worth it!!! In fact it is making me nuts that I don't dare book it for my next vacation, as my sister is going along and wants to save $$$$! It was wonderful to be able to hop on the monorail! And like I said, walking to the Magic Kingdom, how convenient can it get? Especially if you have little ones along. We were kind of on a commando trip, but I'm sure if we had stayed longer and been more relaxed I would have bought a mug, never mind the hike! :earboy2:

This is just my opinion but we prefer the Tower over the Wing rooms for sure! We feel like the view of the castle is worth the $$.

All the rooms are to be rehabbed over the next 6 - 8 months. Hope this helps!

am hoping to get a rehabbed room.. am going to call and request it...

No bad impression, just have never stayed there and value your opinion...
:goodvibes

Good luck on getting the new room! And have a great trip! :sunny:

In my opinion all of the wing rooms are nice, and it probably won't matter which view you get from those rooms. The "standard wing rooms" are the ones facing back towards Magic Kingdom (but also directly at the parking lots). The "garden wing rooms" are the ones that face anywhere else, such as the marina/pool, lake, or just small courtyard areas. The first floor rooms have a patio with 2 chairs and a table. The second and third floor rooms have sliding glass doors, but no balcony, just a railing. The North wing is more convenient to the place where you can refill mugs through a back door at the Food and Fun Center, but the South wing is more convenient to the pools. I don't know what wings/rooms will be in the process of refurbishment when you're there, though, so there may not be as much of a choice. Hope this helps!

We were in a South Wing room the first week of Aug and loved it. We only had three of us, but five would be comfortable. The bathroom was very large as was the room. We had five of us in the Polynesian about 8 years ago and we were comfortable. Both rooms had/have two queen sized beds and a twin sized day bed.

We loved the South wing because it was so close to the pool. And only a hop/skip/jump from the monorail and the MK.

We used DVC points to stay at the Contemporary and would do it again. Our room was not renovated, but they were renovating a long wing in the building.

The mattresses were very comfortable with a plush top on the mattress.

I did request a room next to the pool.. so that may give me a better shot at a good room.. I think we will enjoy it...

Thanks to all... :wave2:

We loved our room in the North Wing. We were on the side closest to the tower, so we had a very short walk to to the food court and arcade. There's a seperate door to the food court that's just a few steps from the North Wing. We also had a room on the ground level with a patio. I would highly recommend that. You don't have to mess with the elevator, and some people can sit on the patio while others are sleeping in the room. The North Wing is also closest to the walkway to MK, and that's the BEST reason to stay at the Contemporary.

I can't speak to the wing rooms, my personal feeling is if I'm going to pay that money, I want the tower. But, for a family of 5 I think CR would be the best choice, because the rooms are the biggest. Otherwise, you'd be looking at a suite or more than one room in one of the other places.
