We'll be staying at the CR in early June. We have reserved a Garden View Wing room. I assume we'll be in the North Wing as the South will be closed for remodeling.

Does anyone have a detailed map of the hotel? What rooms should I request if I want to be able to see the castle from our room?

Thanks,

SharonK

I may be wrong but I thought you have to be in the tower to get a view of the MK. The towers have 2 possible views; Lagoon, and MK.

It's possible from some of the garden view rooms it can be seen, I am not aware of any. I am sure a CR expert will set the record straight :earsboy:

Allears.net has a nice map HERE is the link

We stayed in the north wing last summer. Loved it. WE were on the back side, overlooking Bay Lake. But, I have to say that when we stood out front, we couldn't see the Castle at all. Maybe you can get a peek of it from the top floor (3rd) but I don't think it will be a what you are looking for. Even Space Mt. wasn't all that evident and that is the closest thing to the Contemporary.

We just got back from a north wing CR room that overlooked the lake (I think we got a free upgrade from the standard view!). We were on the 2nd floor and could walk a few steps to the end of the hall and look out a window there near the elevator and we could see the castle pretty well. Seems like some of those rooms should give you a castle/monorail view. The ones on the ground floor might have you looking at shrubs.

We were very close to the main hotel and the FFC - I highly recommend requesting that you be close to there if you use the FFC as much as we did! The lake view is nice cause you can see the water pagent - in case you get upgraded. We really enjoyed that!

We stayed in a standard view room in the north wing. We had rooms 7278 & 7279. These were on the second floor. We had a view of the parking lot, monorail, and castle. At night we could see wishes from our room. There is a channel on the tv that has the music that you could listen to with the fireworks. We could see the castle changing colors at night. If I was requesting one of the two I would pick 7279 because 7278 has a tree in the middle of the view that you have to look around. We were very pleased.

Hmmm what's better? Second floor at the wings to see the castle ot a first floor room with the patio & view of bay lake & the water pageant? hmmmmm.

We had N Garden Wing rm 7183 first floor...AWESOME! We were offered a comp waterview, but we turned it down as we knew DS and DD would love to see the monorail coming in/out of the Tower and see the castle and Space Mtn. The room is angled just right and the tress are planted just so as to not block your view. We also loved feeding the ducks each day that came ot our patio, short walk to food court/pool...ohhh, I want to go back! We just loved it there and would ask for the same room again! Plus, it was very convenient to load/unload our car, saved a few $$$ of tipping.

Not sure if this will work but here is a detailed map from DIS http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/contempmap.htm hope that helps you get picture of where the rooms are.

Duh me! My family and I are staying at the CR on June 2nd. Maybe see ya there SharonK. Have a great trip.

I vastly prefer the Bay Lake first-floor view; I've mentioned it before. There's nothing like enjoying a drink on my patio at night, with the loons quacking on the lake and the lights from the WL/Ft Wilderness/CR launches crisscrossing. In the morning it's a great place to enjoy your coffee, as the fog evaporates. It was probably the best view we ever had at WDW.

IT all depends what matters to you.
