Contemporary vs Grand Floridian

We like to stay at a resort on the monorail. My DH loves the Contemporary but I want to try something new. Anyone out there stayed at both the Contemp and the Grand Floridian? Compare them for me? Or if you have stayed at the Grand Floridian what do you like about it?

Both have good points. You can walk to MK from CR. MK is monorail ride away from GF. You can take a boat directly to WL from CR. GF has more nice restaurants the CR. Monorail is easier to use from CR IMHO.

For my tastes, GF is a little more formal than I like. I loved both places (stayed numerous times at both), but like CR better.

We had dinner at Narcoossee's this past week and were in awe of GF. It's an absolutely beautiful resort. One of these days, we will splurge and stay there

We've stayed at both in the past 2 years, and we love both. My kids like the CR better (view from tower MK room), monorail going through, Chef Mickeys. DH and I prefer GF because it is just so beautiful, relaxing, romantic, and still has the monorail and tons of kids activities/character meals. We couldn't decide for our Feb trip, so we're doing a split stay. 4 nights CR tower MK View and 3 nights GF RPC concierge. I can't wait. Best of both!

We have stayed at both and had great trips at both resorts. If you are going aroung the holidays, then the GF is absolutely beautiful when it is decorated for Christmas. If you have stayed at the CR and want a change of pace, then give the GF a try. It is very nice and gives you the feeling of a pampered stay. However, for me, when I am in the Contemporary and the monorail pulls in, now that's Disney!!!!!

My parents and I have had a lot of stays at the Contemporary and each time it was amazing. The best thing about it is the Magic Kingdom view rooms in the Tower, which are the best possible rooms you can get at any WDW Resort. Here is a picture of it I took in August 2006 from room #4840 which is on the 12th floor.

Even though we have not stayed at the Grand Floridian, we always visit there and we happen to think it's a very nice Resort. So maybe one day we might consider staying there.

I've stayed at both and ordinarily I would say CR MK View, but we just got back and although we had a fabulous stay, the bus situation was stressful, so I would say GF. It is more relaxing and it's simply beautiful, we've just booked our stay next year there and I'm looking forward to going back.

Either way, they're both great resorts and you will love either one, but given the choice, I would go with GF
