I heard on the local news this morning that approx 80 rooms in the tower were flooded last night (8/9) due to a water main break on the 12th floor. The break affected floors all the way down to the 5th and guests were evacuated. The news said they had not been told by Disney just how bad the damage to those 80 rooms were. :(

Seems to me they've had water problems before (fairly recently). When are they going to fix this stuff? I hope everybody's okay and that there wasn't too much damage to their belongings.

Big question is, how is this going to affect people who have made reservations for the upcoming months or were waiting to book if/when AP rates come out?

Oh those poor people! What a shock and disappointment that must have been. AND the poor Contemporary! I've always had a soft spot in my heart for this resort. :( I hope everyone is okay and they get the problems fixed.

Could this be time for a major rehab for the Contemporary? That might be a welcome outcome of this unfortunate event.

OH man, I wonder too! What a mess....:(

Wow! I'm sure glad we're going to be up on the 14th floor next month!

I remember a problem with this a few months ago. I sure hope this one is quickly fixed and the guests aren't inconvenienced.

WWWOOOOOOWWWWW!

Check out my counter and yes I booked Tower Club which puts us on the 12th floor. Does anyone have anymore up to date info? I'm thinking about calling to get all this confirmed and see what the story is.

I wouldn't worry myself too much, Joe Mouse! If Disney doesn't have everything all squared away in a few days, and they can not accomodate you in the Tower, then I bet they'll put you someplace (on the monorail line) very nice to make up for the inconvenience. You'll still have a magical time--I'd almost bet my way-too-hard-to-obtain October BWV studio reservation on it! (I said "almost" bet...) ;)

Seriously, I'd relax and expect the magic to begin in 4 days--no matter what!

If I could spell, I wouldn't have to hit that darned "edit" button!

Wow, again!?! This does not sound good...maybe the rumors about the overhaul and turning the north tower into DVC rentals could turn out to be true, and sooner than we think! :confused3

Joe,

If you call, let us know what they say. I have a room booked on the 12th floor in October.

A few years ago when we were in the towers,we woke to our bathroom floor and hall way flooded and still coming down from the floor above,so,I went to front desk (sometimes in the morning it takes some time to talk to anyone by phone) and told them what was going on and that I had 2 teenagers (17) in the room that I told to stay in the bed or come with me.Of course ,they stayed in bed. They rushed to get us moved while they sent us to Chef Mickeys (no cost to us) and they moved us to anyother room and eveything was done very quickly. They wanted to make sure that no one used anything like a hairdryer, etc, in that room.I will say that they went out of their way, always asking if everything was OK to make sure our trip was not a waste.Since then we have stayed several times in the towers and had no problem, now we are booked for the tower again in Sept. I hope they did their best to help the people like they did us.But I know that this time they would have alot more people to deal with.If anyone knows of any info on this problem, please post it. mickeys_friend@hotmail.com

I just got off the phone with the CR. She gave me very short answers to my questions. She confirmed they had flooding. I asked her if this will affect my reservation upon checkin for Saturday and she said there will be no problems. Like I said, answers were very short. She did not go out of her way to reassure me other than to say "no" to the question that it will not affect my reservation upon checkin and to "have a magical day".

I guess this follows that parallel that I have noticed on these boards that when the s___ hits the fan at WDW, the mode changes to evasive and non-commital on issues. I guess that is part of their training.

Joe,

Did you talk to the concierge or the front desk? Since you are staying on the 12th floor, you may want to call the concierge. Maybe they can provide more information. The number is (407) 934-4438.

Best of Luck.

I think I spoke with someone at the front desk (407 824 1000). I tried the Itinerary & Planning arm of Concierge, but got voicemail. I will try the number you provided.

Thanks.

407.824.1775 is the Concierge # I use.

If you get voice mail, they always call back quickly.

Just spoke to Concierge (407 934 4438). The person I spoke with was more personable. She confirmed the flooding. She indicated it was an inconvenience for guests for one day but they had the option to come back or stay with new accomodations. She gave me the impression that everything was cleared up and everything was back to normal. There shouldn't any problems with my reservations for Saturday.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW Kimberle.......Your daughter has a striking resemblence to my daughter. They have similar features. I showed the pix to my wife and she concurred. Hopefully, I will be as lucky as you and get similar photo opportunities. It is an awesome picture.

Thank you, Joe!

Have a wonderful time! And please post a report of your CR stay!! We can't wait till our's next month!
