I'm planing on making Chef Mickeys PS for dinner and wanted to walk over to MK afterwards. Where exactly is the walkway to the park, I know exactly where CM is but I've never used the walkway. TIA :teeth:

Just walk towards the buses and follow that sidewalk towards the Cont. -- you have to eventually cut through the parking lot in front of the Contemporary. Should take you about 5-10 minutes depending on walking speed.

Joshua4 is right, although I'd count on more than 10 minutes (Joshua4, no disrespect, I just don't want them to miss any kind of appointments at mk like fireworks, parades, etc.).

One neat thing that I like to watch (I'm a nerd, I know) is once you cross the street and the MK/Space Mtn. is on your right, there is a guard house on the other side of a chain link fence with a roadway. To stop unauthorized cars from entering the employee area, the road(looks like steel plates) actually lifts in the air to form a barrier. It has yellow and black stripes on it so you can't miss it. Anyway I thought it was a neat idea and have only seen things like that in the movies. If you are on the Monorail heading to CR you can see it from the "air" as well.

hi.
in case you are driving to dinner....
when we were there in nov. and drove to contemporary for breakfast/shopping (no p.s.), they gave us a 2 hr. parking pass. don't imagine they would have kicked us out after the 2 hrs., but just wanted to let you know so you could make plans, just in case.

the walk from the contemporary to the front gate is SO quick (5-10 mins., as others mentioned)! we thought about staying there on this next trip for the proximity ONLY!!!

have a great time!

I'll have a 8 and 6 yo with me, I won't be driving but wanted to know which is the fastest way to get back to the Parks in time for Spectro and Wishes (its their first time seeing these two, we missed them last year because of Hurricane Frances!). Thanks to all of you for your responses. :goodvibes

Neat info on the gate, Craig. I've never noticed it.

I also agree that the walk is longer than 10 minutes from the main building of CR...at least it is for me! ;)

I would say it depends. Are your 8 and 6 yo energetic?
With Kids, I think it would be a toss up. Remember, the Monorail has to stop at TTC, Poly, GF, then MK. It depends on how busy it is at that time.

If your kids are energetic I'd say your chances are better walking (quickly).
Last two trips I had stroller and bags with family and I'd say it took us about 10-15 minutes walking back to the CR. Don't forget to check with Guest relations what time the two shows are for that evening. It often changes per night depending on the park closing.

We loved the walkway from CR to MK. It runs right underneath the monorail for a bit. As you come out of the CR go right, through the parking lot, headed towards Space Mt. You will cross a street at a light. Keep going and you'll be there before you know it. It took us about 8 minutes to make the walk. The only time it took much longer was the day after Hurricane Charley when we had to walk around fallen trees and huge puddles!!

The monorail from CR to MK is never faster than walking. So, if you just want to relax and see the sights then take the monorail. It should take you about 25 minutes to get to MK from CR. Can take longer if there are a lot of folks either entering or leaving the monorail.
