contemporary sold out

Whats up with the contemporary? I have tried for Jan. 10th thru the 18th and also 17th thru 26th. All dates are sold out. They don't even have a room without a discount. My concern is if this hotel is sold out now then should I possibly expect the attendance to also be high. I have always found this time of year to be slow but now I'm worried.

This happened with me too. We are staying at the CR next summer, and I thought I was safe by booking now. They had no rooms available for 6/28, or for the week after the 4th. I was told they set aside blocks of rooms for the conventions, so that might be the case for January as well.

It's possible that they are holding rooms for a convention at the resort. The rooms may free up closer to January. Also, does the WDW marathon fall into that time period? I think Contemporary may be a popular resort for that event.

We are staying at the Contemporary Dec 15-21. We were scheduled to stay at Shades of Green the military resort, but it is closed for renovation. They have booked everyone at Contemporary instead. This may be a reason why it is fuller. I wanted to ask a question, since we have not strayed there before. We were going to be five but might invite a daughters friend. Do any of the rooms sleep six? We have a garden wing room right now. Thanks for any help Elaine

I would book another resort but keep trying. Did they check individual dates for you? Also, your second block includes the MLK holiday.

Last year we had a similar situation with the yacht club. At one point no rooms were available, even full price, but when a new discount rate came out (can't remember if it was a code or annual passholder) there were rooms! I haven't a clue why

The last time we stayed there, January 1999, there were also 3 conventions going on there.

eshannon- The CR sleeps 5. It has 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. But the rooms are huge.

Shades of Green is the military owned resort which is closed for renovation and expansion for the next year or so. Those who would normally stay there are being booked into the Contemporary. As a result, the Contemporary is going to be filled most of the time for quite a while. Any kind of convention will just make it worse. Actual crowds at parks etc. will not really be any different than usual for any time of year.

We tried to get the CR for the beginning of February and it was sold out Feb 4 - 16. We wanted to go in Value season, so we picked POR for our 5 instead.

I'm pretty sure the marathon is actually on Jan 10, that is probably why, along with SOG bookings. Have you tried to split your stay up and see if you can get a room there for a shorter amount of time? Maybe it's just filled for a couple of the days you need and thats why it won't allow you to book the whole week.
