Contemporary Rumor

I see all these posts about CR....I have never been there , what is the allure?

Walking distance to the MK and on the monorail which gives easy access to the other monorail resorts and their restaurants as well as EPCOT. Depending on the design of the building, the views could be incredible.

The allure would be walking distance to MK, the monorail, Bay Lake, great room decor, as I going to assume it will be similar to what is in the new rooms at the resort now, which is very nice.

Wonderful lobby, good restuarants, very good counter service. Access to many recreational activities.

As stated with the location of north end of the property the possibility of some fabulous views of the MK.

Now of course if one is not a huge fan of the MK, then the allure will not be there.

Anyone find it more than a little bit of a coincidence that in the DVC email newletter I received today had a little history about how the Contemporary was build?

Even though my family and I may not be DVC members, if their news letters are giving historical info about the Contemporary that could mean more evidence of DVC going there. I would add to that the other rumours out there and what I have heard from Cast Members who say DVC will be at the Contemporary.

CR Resort Fan, do you have a link to that computerized picture of the supposed C building? I think I saw you post on that thread. The picture made the design look so much more appealing to me than the drawings.

Is this the link you were referring to? http://www.screamscape.com/html/wdw_-_contempdvc_4.htm If it is I sent to one of my friends and he said because that company is well known in Florida then it will be a DVC building and that will be the design based on the history and how that company has been very realisable.

That's it CR fan. Thank you.

Isn't SSR expected to be sold out fairly soon, at least by the end of the year?

When I added on the AKV in the beginning of the year the man who came in to do the paperwork with me, not the salesman, but the guy who does all the paperwork (I don't know their title) told me that it would be at least a year & a half before SSR would sell out. So that would be around May/June/July 2008.

I've been there a million times, and I'm still wondering the same thing! :teeth:

Seriously though, I do enjoy the restaurants and monorail. The location is also great for the MK.
That said, our favorite thing about any Disney resort is theme, of which IMO the CR is lacking. :smokin:

Even though the Contemporary may not have an obvious theme like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge, their theme is on the 4th floor grand canynon concourse level. On that floor is Chef Mickey's, Concourse Steakhouse, the Outer Rim Lounge, the brand new arcade. Bay View Gifts store and the Monorail station. Plus they are the only Magic Kingdom Monorail Resort where you can see the Express Monorail go right threw the Hotel. With the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian you have to go outside to see this, or hope you have a room that is close to the Monorail line.

When it comes to theme what is so great about the Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club? I agree they both look great on the outside, however the inside of those Resorts are nothing special and they remind me of any normal Hotel.

Take it from me

You will see

A monorail

DVC

2 years ago I wrote this and I will stick by it. If I am wrong, oh well, I got played good but I do still believe.

Maybe near or upon construction completion the announcement will be made and if so then watch the contracts fly. I think it would be the ultimate closure of DVC Resorts at WDW and then the rest of the country and the world.

You may take this with a grain a sand if you wish.

I am now anxiously awaiting a DVC at CR. We plan on buying DVC Spring 2009 and thought AKV orginally. We went over to AKL for a visit and just weren't as thrilled with AKL as I thought I would be. But CRV would be awesome purely for location. I told my husband as soon as it opens to sell to the public, I am there. Even if it is before Spring 2009.

:cool1:

If it happens, it will be long after 2009.

why would it be 'long after 2009'?

if there is any truth to the rumor that SSR is nearing a sell-out (what - approximately 4 yrs after its initial offering?) - and assuming that the sales rate for AKV will end up being 'faster' than that of SSR because of a higher interest level among non-members, as well as the fact that AKV will have fewer units to sell - then might one expect to see the next DVC announcement 2 1/2 - 3 yrs after the initial offering of AKV??? that would put it at late 2009 / early 2010. seems that timeline may ALSO coincide nicely with the construction schedule for "whatever's" going on over at the Contemporary;)

...it's not THAT long to wait - especially considering that the CRV rumors have already been flying for what seems like years!

Why the allure? I like it because it's close to the MK. My kids really love the color scheme, the old one that is (purple, yellow and turquoise all in the same room just amazed them!). They also liked being so close to the MK. Husband is non-committal. He's a Beach Club fan.

We would love to buy points there, however- we also heard the rumor that "every Deluxe will have its own DVC". If there's any hope of that, we'd be inclined to hold out for Polynesian Resort Villas.
