Help
My travel agent friend booked us a "garden wing" room at CR in Jan 2002 for end of this Aug 02. She also requested non smoking 1st floor North wing. I understand now that SOG occupies north wing. My ?? is I read most of south wing is SMOKING. My DH and kids(4&8) cannot tolerate "smoke smell" etc. due to allergies. I know Disney makes no guarentees but this is the only real stickler. Should I try to book a different ressie or get a note from kids MD?? Thanks for the input...
PS been to disney before but is our 1st time staying "inside" and don't want an unpleasant experience thanks

I'd contact CRO and ask them about it. SOG has the entire North wing as far as I've heard, and South is smoking rooms. Ask what they recommend you do. You may get upgraded to a tower room. Good luck.

Have them list non-smoking for medical reasons, and it may be able to be guarenteed.

There are a few rooms on the first floor of the Garden Wing (so I've heard) that are not opperated by SoG, but for paying CR guests. So, you might still get your request. Or, maybe a nice upgrade to the tower (all except the 8th floor is non-smoking).

I called my travel agent friend (who was not aware of the SOG thing ,even now) and she said she'd let me know.thank goodness for this web site. It wouldn't have been much fun at check in. thanks again for the help.

We just got back from both the North and the South Wings. We were in the North at first (room 7187) it was first floor two doors from the entrance way, however, it was a handicap room and the bathroom just didn't cut it with a teenager girl and two little boys (also that area is NOISY!) so we moved to the South Wing (the CM asked if we were from SOG because we were in the North Wing, but he did state that it was NOT all SOG, when I said no, and asked him why) We did have a smoking room because it was available then, he did have another room that wouldn't be ready for another 4 hours or so in the South Wing, but he said that it was NOT smoking. Okay okay I am rambling here...long story short. I requested a room close to the tower and they put me in the North wing on the first floor and I am not from SOG, and not all rooms in the South Wing are smoking! lol There ya go!

Oh and for the record, the smoking rooms are "optional" which means that not everyone smokes in them. I did however, find a faint smell of smoke when we first entered the room, but we aired it out and it was fine! I loved the room!
