Anyone know good views for rooms that are in garden view that are standard view? I was originally assigned 5260 which I knew was a parking lot, but was looking for other rooms with better view in same category. Was kinda disappointed when I checked in that they weren't doing anything magical since it's my bday and my sisters wedding at the grand Floridian pavillion.

Sadly with everyone “celebrating “ something they can’t pixie dust everyone. Common saying is book view you are happy with. Resorts are always full or close to it so they can’t magically make a room appear. Enjoy your trip, happy birthday and enjoy wedding.

Those getting the upgrades to other resort on the other thread are being moved because Of construction. Those are few and far between - people who get pixie dust post because excited. Honestly doesn’t happen often.

My DS and I going forour birthdays in January. I expect nothing... everyone wears a button. I think when CMs ask at booking if you’re celebrating something people think/expect something. Just can’t do for everyone.

Coming on here isn't going to help much.
If you are unhappy you should go to the front desk and explain that you rather not have a view of the parking lot and see if they have anything else.
If they don't then they don't.
Also there is always someone celebrating something and you should not come to expect a CM to do something extra special for you.
If it happens it happens and if it doesn't it doesn't.

If you are there now (and it sounds like you are as you have a room assignment), the best you can do is go to the front desk and ask if they have a room with a nicer view. We've stayed standard in the garden wing with a view of the monorail which I found to be lovely. If they have something available, they will do their best to accommodate you within the room category you booked. As PP's mentioned, just about everyone at WDW is celebrating something, so they can't magically upgrade everyone who has booked a room there.

From Touring plans looks like OP got nice view of monorail!

I was at WDW on my 35th Birthday. I had got married at YC two days before. So, naturally, I assumed my birthday would be, well, special, cos, I had never been to WDW before, so it was ALL special, but, not at all birthday ish, and that was perfectly fine, cos, getting married on the exact day I wanted was awesome (It was very busy and we had to go in a lottery for the date) Plus, we had breakfast booked at Tusker House, and my family got me a birthday pin.
I was *super* excited to get a cupcake with a candle in the frosting with my breakfast, I still remember it 10 years later. Room upgrades for a birthday? That's wild! I bet loads of the staff are there *working* on their birthday, because mostly, that's what people have to do.

So much of this post is poignant on so many levels.

I think how we booked a high level balcony stateroom on the cruise ship for our 10th anniversary & the cheapest lower level interior stateroom on a last minute getaway that wasn't a planned vacation.

Now my solo birthday trip I ponied up the dough for a preferred room as a treat to myself to walk less that trip, but booked a farther standard room when going mainly to take in Christmas decor.

On some level you could say the OP might justify an upgrade saying 'its my birthday & wedding event' and therefore I will book an upgrade. On the other hand, I don't think all who book a deluxe think there is even a parking lot view (though they all have parking lots). Hard to swallow, knowing you could have paid far less to view a different lot though. Its a good lesson to those reading & planning. Spending $$$$$$$ doesn't guarantee a great view unless you book $$$$$$$$$$ to book a great view.

Personally, I'm after different amenities than what it looks outside my window.

Clear as day in picture from Disney website mock booking- parking lot. Polynesian also has that listed on some room as do most resorts.
