Contemporary Resort - Rehab & Closure Dates

I just hope the temporary location if they are not selling hot food, that they would still be selling the Chicken Caesar Salad. If not I know they sell it at Captin Cook's and Gasparilla Grill & Games which is worth the Monorail ride to either the Polynesian or Grand Floridian to get one.

Just read thru this whole thread, and still a little confused. Will the Outer Rim still be open theu 8/29-9/3? I love to have a nice Libation after a day @ the parks. It's never really to busy there, and is rather relaxing. Also wont the F&F center make for a ton of noise now that its on the 4th floor?

The updated list of dates never said that the Outer Rim Lounge would be closed when the temporary location is opened, because it says it would be near the Outer Rim Lounge. As for the Food & Fun Center or Chef Mickey's Express as it will be called being loud when it opens on the 4th floor, I don't think it will because it will be away from the arcade. So your still remembering it from the location it is now. Finally here is an updated list of the Contemporary renovation time table for you to look at.

August 2007 - Newly renovated Fantasia Shop will re-open.

June 11, 2007 through November 2007 - The Lobby will undergo partitioned refurbishments to update the area's image and decor.

July 2007 through October 2007 - The resort's grounds will undergo partitioned refurbishments to install new landscaping and re-route existing guests paths.

July 30, 2007 through April 2008 - The Food & Fun Center will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as a new table service option, "The Wave". During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

April 2008 through August 14, 2008 -The Concourse Steak house will be closed for major renovations. The location will re-open as the new Counter Service location for the resort. During this time a temporary counter service location will be operating on the Grand Concourse level near the Outer Rim Lounge.

I'm just in the begining stages of planning our late April 2008 trip. I've loved the Contemporary on past trips and wanted to stay there With small kids (trip time ages 6.5 and 4) being close to the MK is very important. Hearing about the temporary CS has me nervous. Should I rethink the Comtemporary and branch out to the Poly?

We are going 2nd week in Dec 2007 and this is our first time
in a deluxe. I had to wheel and deal for this vacation. I had to have
CR everyone else wanted AK.
I am soo scared my family .... DH and DD(S) 7, 4 and inlaws are going to be
disappointed because the resort is lacking something they were looking
forward to.
Should I surprise them and switch???
Please pray for me!!!!!

Most of the rehab in Tower should be completed by mid-November if everything goes according to Disney's schedule. The only construction going on would be on the first floor where the new restaurant is going. The major inconvenience would be that there would only be the temporary counter on the 4th floor for quick food service. I guess you would have to decide if this would be reason enough to change resorts.
