Contemporary Resort Question...HELP!!

If I talk about all the great things about the Contemporary I would just be repeating the same things which other people have said. What I will say about the Contemporary is this. My family & I love to stay there, it's our favorite Resort in WDW which is why we keep going back, we love being close to the Magic Kingdom & having the Monorail right in the hotel is the greatest thing ever . I could go on & on but then my response would be a very long one.

The CR has some of the largest rooms on property, 2 queens and one day bed (twin size mattress) in every room (don't know about the suites, but regular rooms), you can quickly walk to the MK, the pool is shaped like Mickey, Chef Mickey and his friends "live" there and the monorail travels right through the middle of the building! I am sure they will love it. Plus the marina, where you can catch a boat to WL or FW, or rent one of the water mice (or whatever they are called now).

I think they still have that awesome game room (we stayed before renovations). I think it will all be good. And, once on the monorail line, it's tough to break away from that habit.

I have decided that on our upcoming (January) vacation I am going to surprise the family by booking a deluxe resort. DW and the kids will think we are going to Pop Century, but we will actually be going deluxe for the first time. I have done lots of thinking and research about which one would be right for us, and it looks like CR is going to be the one. The proximity to MK; the iconic image of the monorail going thru it; CM; supposedly awesome pool -these are but a handful of the reasons I am leaning strongly toward CR now over WL and AKL -my other two "finalists".

We have stayed at the AKL and ASM (multiple times at both) and thought we would try something a little bit different and on the monorail (a big thing for us since we LOVE the MK). My question is this...is the Contemp. a place for kids? After reading some of the reviews I am a bit worried...is the Disney magic still alive and well there? We don't need over the top stuff...just good quality without losing the fun....will we find it here? THANKS for any help! Especially those of you that have been there with little ones! **we do LOVE to visit this resort, we LOVE Chef Mickey's and we love the monorail**

I absolutely loved the contemporary. I remember on my 2nd trip to disney (when I was 8, now I'm 16). I remember walking inside the Contemporary for the first time and the thing that amused me the most was the monorail going through it. I stayed there last year. Def. has the disney magic to it. Since it is one of the original resorts of the walt disney world resort the non renovated rooms may seem less decked out with theme, but the newly renovated rooms are amazing and lovely. It does have the best arcade on property. (to my experience). The views are amazing. Def. an amazing resort . It is definately good quality without losing the fun, you shall find it at the contemporary. I think the monorail will amuse the little ones.

Oh Man...ever since my first visit to WDW...I have loved the CR. Just the fact that you can be there and the monorail comes whisking through the lobby. Such a fun place with great shops, and meals. Love tower, and looking for the 5 legged goat on the mural. Love Chef Mickey's...and California Grill is DBF and mine's favorite spot to eat and enjoy the fireworks. On my Wishes cruise last Dec, I was informed that the terrace atop to CR is the 2nd best place to view Wishes. It is definately magical, and you will love it. I have yet to stay there, as I am in college and only vacation Deluxe with the Family...who does not particularly care to stay at CR, and would rather stay at Poly. (Which I love!) But your kids WILL love it! Don't let the reviews get you down!

We asked DS (10) where he wanted to stay this year and he said CR. This will be my first stay in the Tower as I have stayed in the wings and liked it. Why DS (and I) love CR:

-Biggest Game Room on property
-Big Pool Slide
-Hot tub (they don't have one @ the Poly)
-Icee drinks for your mug
-Walking to MK is THE BEST
-Great shopping in the resort (that one is mine)
-Rent a boat right there
-On the monorail line - cool that it runs through the building
-Great restaurants that are sooo convenient...he loves CA Grill!
-Big rooms and an MK view this year!
-Hustle, bustle and WDW excitement

My sons love the CR. They call it the monorail hotel and love how the monorail goes THROUGH the building. The arcade rocks and they love the pool slide. I personally don't think the pool is as themed or landscaped as well as other resorts, but the kids just want to swim and go down the slide. They also had a great time digging in the sand on the little beach area. Being able to walk to MK in less than 10 minutes is a huge perk for all of us! And the rooms are HUGE!

My sister and I took my nieces (2 & 4 at the time) to the CR last September and they LOVED IT!!! When I went back in January with the 4 yr old I was on the cell with my sister as the ME bus was coming down the road towards the CR and my niece hollered out, "Look Aunt Mare! It's our hotel! I love our hotel!" My sister and I couldn't stop giggling at her excitement. I just hope she doesn't get disappointed come December when the Poly is our hotel instead of the CR. The only reason we decided on the Poly is because we got a really great deal through our TA, otherwise we'd be at the CR again. I can't say enough positive things about that hotel, I really do love it!
