I currently have reservations at Riverside but I am thinking of splitting our stay with the Contemporary since we have never stayed in a deluxe and since many of you split your stays and enjoy it. I am wondering what area of the garden wings to request? I dont want to be too far away from the main building. Also wondering what the walk to MK is like (how far and where is the walkway)? I'm not at all familiar with the Contemporary so any input you can give me would be great.

I am too staying at the Contemporary in ummm..let's see, yup in ONE WEEK :D

I wanted to know about the garden wings too and what to ask for as far as a fax request is concerned. I am travelling with just the children this time and would like to stay as close as possible to the towers.

I have stayed in the towers before and from what I noticed about the wings, I think (NOT SURE) but I think that the South is closer to the towers and the North is a closer walk to the MK (someone recently posted it took them 7 minutes to walk, not bad!)

In general if you want to know what the resort is like, WE LOVED IT! My kids loved it so much they insisted we go back there!

Hi Lori and Joy,

Stayed at contemporary last year with wife and 3 year old, the walk to MK was very short and pleasant, welcomed when leaving the park at closing, you are bypassing everyone, monorail was a nice convienence as well. We stayed in the garden wing closest to the MK path, not sure if it was North or South, both are a very easy stroll to the tower, easy to get to the pool and Chef Mickeys is right there. The rooms at comtemporary a bigger than average rooms and recently redone.

All in all for $210 a night we were happy, and the convience to MK was awesome as we have a little one and that's the park we go to alot.

Have a great weekend.

We stayed at the North Wing which is the closest to MK. The South Wing would be a much longer walk to MK. Of course, if you are not near the Seven Seas Lagoon but closer to the Tower buiilding you are closer to the Main Concourse. If you get first floor and view of the Seven Sea Lagoon, it is wonderful to go outside and see the Electrical Water Parade at night, but a long walk to concourse. Have a great vacation.

We just got back from the Contemporary. Right now the entire North Wing (closest to the Magic Kingdom) is being used as the Shades of Green. The Shades of Green is the military resort and it is closed for expansion. All the other guest of the Contemporary go in the South Garden Wing or the tower. We loved it there, it isn't as "themed" as the other resorts. But I still liked it.

Which wing is closer to the tower? Thanks!:)

Both wings are not far from the tower it just that the north wing is closest to MK. Since the north wing is being used for Shades of Green resort guest; I guess you either stay in the tower or south wing if you are not in the military. The Contemporary is not themed like other resorts but has one the largest room as far as square footage (unless staying at DVC resort). My family loves the bright colors in the decor and the bathroom. The children also love the game room at this resort the best. Even though we bought a DVC (OKW & BCV) this is still one of our favorite family resorts outside of our DVC.

Just got back, I stayed in the North wing closest to MK. The walk to me is really not that bad from any point in the resort. I love the contemporary because of the Bus and monarail are never crowded, since they start at the contemporary and work there way around to the Grand Floridan. The west wing is closest to the pool.

maybe it's just me, but whenever people talk about the long walk from one place to another, I always find it doesn't feel like such a long walk. We stayed in the contemporary north wing last december and it was a LOT closer to the tower than I thought it would be! We did stay right in the middle of the building so we were about equal distance from the tower and the exit that is closest to the MK but neither felt like a really big distance to me.
