Contemporary Question

DH & I just rode the boat from WL to the Contemporary for Chef Mickeys yesterday. I was wondering what is the building to the left of the Contemporary if you are looking directly at it from the back where the boat comes in? It almost looks like like an office building but could be rooms also. If it is rooms I would sure hate to be stuck over in that section

Maybe someone else will answer with more certainty, but I am guessing that building is the one referred to as the Garden Wing. If that is the building you are referring to, then yes, there are guest rooms out there. Depending on the room type, you can pay a good deal less for a room in this section compared to some of the tower rooms.

I hope not! I don't think there is enough room, plus some of us love those rooms, so peaceful, so quiet. You can't get "stuck" there you reserve those rooms.

Ah, but the South Garden Wing rooms are one of the best-kept secrets at WDW. They're lovely rooms, are just a short walk from the main building, and you can get really beautiful views of the lake. And, they're often more reasonably priced than some other deluxe rooms.

It has been brought up a couple times. I doubt it, Bay Lake (which is my home resort) already looms over the main building. Two of them and the Contemporary would be lost amongst two taller buildings. At this point Disney has pulled permits for the GFV (under construction) and for the new (future) DVC on the current River Country site (fort wilderness). So at this time nothing suggests a BLT-2... Maybe some day, likely after the Polynesian Villas have been built. DVC attached to a monorail resort is an absolute cash cow for Disney so (imho) it is safe to say all of the monorail resorts will have a DVC attached.

totally agree with this! Those rooms fill up FAST and are hard to find discounted. On the average, they are $100 a night cheaper than garden view room at Poly and you have that magical option of walking to MK! I would love to stay there!

we stayed there last time on a great discount. They were super convenient rooms! We parked less then 100 feet from our room, we had sliding glass doors with a tiny patio, we could watch the water parade from our room, and the pool was so close, we could run back to the room anytime we needed. Not to mention.. Took us only a couple minutes to be on the beach. The room was fairly spacious for disney, too. If we drove to the parks, the parking convenience could not have been beat! Plus, so easy to walk right out, no elevators. Took us 2 minutes to be in the lobby, so we could use the monorail quickly, or walk to mk in a few minutes.
The price difference between the tower and the garden wing was crazy!

Well, you don't have to worry about getting "stuck" there. They have their own room categories. They tend to sell out very fast as they are the most reasonably priced rooms on the monorail. They are also some of the largest rooms on property.
