Contemporary or Polynesian???

The above pictures are a classic example of perspective. We had tower MK view and I chose to admire the gorgeous view of MK, Bay Lake, the horizon. I don't even remember the parking lot. Glass half empty or half full???:beach:

That's true. And I have to say that the photo posted makes the castle appear to be further/smaller than it is in real life. We had a 12th floor room in December and the castle wasn't nearly as far as it appears in the photo.
Don't know why cameras alter perspective like that, but they do. :confused3

I also agree! Disney also has the MK view as a PRIME rate for it's guest. The MK view costs more than Bay Lake view. Also, as the poster mentioned above at night the views are gorgeous! We stayed at the Poly last August, and yes the rooms were nice, but at the CR they are very updated and modern and undeniably comfortable. They even have computers in the room. We love the Contemporary Resort.

Are you kidding me??? We NEVER had a problem with sinks over flowing at CR and we have kids' that thought the cool sinks were another part of the fun! Who in their right mind would even put a computer near a sink???:rolleyes2

Hi Frisco!

Do you not like the Contemporary Resort? :confused3 We think the rooms are so much nicer and I believe newer then the Poly. Now, don't get me wrong the Poly is a beautiful resort, but I do like the Contemporary Resort rooms better, in my humble opinion.

When is your next vacation to Disney?

I'm going this Saturday, and I can't wait!! :hourglass CR here I come!! LOL!

I'm just teasing.

Personally, no, I don't care for the Contemporary. However, I've never stayed there. I've been there for breakfast and dinner many times. Food is great, I just find the whole atmosphere kind of cold, convention-like feel.
I'm all about the theme of a hotel I guess.

If that's your opinon I respect it. However don't forget other Resorts like the Grand Floridian, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, and Coronado Springs are also convention Resorts and host a fair number of conventions at their convention centers. Although I guess other people over look that since those Resorts have a more in your face theme then the Contemporary, so others like to use that and the convention factor as a reason not to like the Contemporay. I am not saying your like that, however I wish others would realize the Contemporary is not the only convention Resort located onsite and they realize the other Resorts with the better themes also host convention guests.

Hi Fresco!

Oh, I thought you were teasing, no problem at all. I respect all opinions on this board, I don't believe there are really any right on wrong answers, people just choose a resort to meet their own needs. I like the fact that the monorail runs through the resort. :thumbsup2 I have reservations for the MK view so I hope it's worth it. I recieved the $200 gift card, and the "Buy 4 nights get 3 FREE, from Disney "deal", along with the other extra's like Sea Raycer, minature golf, Planet Holly food voucher etc. I love how there rooms are redecorated too! It almost puts me in the mind of the Bellagio in Las Vegas, very upscale, if you will. Our next vacation is with the Grand Floridian on May 20th. That resort is gorgeous and it's Disney's Flagship resort.

Brunette:)

I Love them both! Just wanted to point out some features of the CR not mentioned.
The beach at CR has hammocks.
The 4th floor of the tower may be a little frantic, but the rest of the resort isn't.
The best marina on property.
Every one is debating the MK view, keep it. I'll take a Bay Lake view anytime. Watching the sunrise over Bay Lake, you could believe you are the only one around for miles, not so over on the 7 seas lagoon. (The Wilderness Lodge provides this peaceful isolation as well.)
Rooms in the wing can be had for much less than the anything a the Poly.
Whirlpools!
Again I love both, you really can't go wrong.

I know other resorts have Convention facilities too. I prefer not to stay at those either, but I could deal with it at those because they have such a great theme to them. CR just reminds me of any fancy hotel. Any time I've been there during the day, I see more people in business suits than bathing suits.

I agree about seeing more people in business suits than bathing suits...It made me a little comfortable. The hotel is beauitful. I will say that I kinda of enjoyed the parking lot view:rotfl2: it was fun watching people come and go. At night it was spectacular!!!!and we got to see both wishing and mnsshp fireworks. I don't know if I would stay here again but I am glad I did it once.

I will admit there is the odd time I see people dressed in business suits, however that does not bother me because they have just as much a right to be there like any family on there on vacation. Also how do we know they never brought their families along so it becomes a working vacation.

Of course they do. I'm simply stating why I don't like the feel of the place. When I'm on vacation, I want to feel like I'm on vacation.

Different strokes for different folks.

Actually, the Contemporary and Polynesian both had their most recent room refurbishment at the same time, 2005-2006.

People swim despite the no swimming warning signs. :sad2: Swimming in the lagoon is dangerous because of the potential for amoebas that can be dangerous if they enter the body. :crazy2:

And yes, there are alligators at WDW. IIRC, they "relocate" a few away from guest areas pretty much every week. ;)

I just assumed this was an older pic. Swimming was allowed in the lagoon right up till the early 90's.
