We are planning a trip the first week or so of June to coincide with our NC beach vacation we take yearly. Figuring since we already had driven from Indiana to EI, North Carolina that a jaunt over to WDW for Star Wars weekends wasnt that much farther.........we are a family of 6. Dh and I and 4 rugrats aged 2, 4, 10 and 12 at the time of this trip. DH wants to stay on property knowing crowds and heat are going to run high and wants transpo other than buses. So I am looking at Contemporary and Polynesian. I also looked at Grand Flor, WL and Saratoga. But we love the monorail!

Opinions?

Poly or CR........Well, based on how many times we have stayed at CR, my choice should be obvious. However, I have never stayed at Poly. I have strolled the grounds many times and it looks lovely. We absolutely LOVE CR, but I think you would be happy at either. The size of the rooms and being on the monorail are important factors for us. Atmosphere is completely different at both, but again, I really feel you would be happy at either. CR is just our personal fav.......Good luck!!

CR has the walkway access to the MK but Poly has the advantage of the monorail access to both MK and EPCOT, so the conveninece aspect is a tossup. The pool at Poly is definitely cooler ( volcano ) but the CR pool is fun with the twisty water slide. I guess it comes down to the theming and decor, funky futuristic or kitchy island life. The Poly seems to have more going on with the ladies in the lobby helping the kids make leis and playing the ukelele, plus there's 'Ohana, but CR has Chef Mickeys

We had a garden view with a patio at the Poly last week. You might want to consider that the Poly's rooms are a little larger. (There's a wonderful Diser out there that has the exact room sizes) With a garden view and a patio, you would have a little more room for your family to spill out to that area. At the Poly, you have a choice of buses or monorail or boats to the MK, also you can use the TTC. The porta crib can fit next to the patio door or a really snug fit where the connecting door is. The other plus is the vast beach area and walkway to GF...lots of open areas.

Hard choice...CR is a great resort also...I'm a little partial to the Poly;)

I'm going to tell my DH that it is only a jaunt from EI to WDW! Do you think he will believe it?:rotfl2: "Honey, lets take a little jaunt this weekend!":lmao: I don't mean to pick on you but that was so cute.

I've stayed at all 3 resorts with kids. You can't go wrong staying on the monorail. My preference with a 2 year old is GF, Poly and then CR.

We have stayed at both and the CR is our first choice resort. We really like the clean lines of the new rooms and the access to MK cannot be beat. Check out some of my pics of the rooms at CR in my trip report and the view from our balcony of the castle.

It's all a matter of your personal preference and taste.

We've never stayed at either, but we're staying at Poly next July. I've been to both for visits and the Poly to me is vibrant, beautiful and fun. CR just holds no appeal to me, other than it's location to the Magic Kingdom. I felt as though walking through the lobby that I had to keep my voice down for some reason.:confused3

Lori!

It is just a jaunt! Seeing as we have already driven the 15 hours from Indiana to EI  You can always use the argument that I know a fellow Diser who swears its just a jaunt over to see the mouse!

Why the GF? Just curious as we had looked at this resort, too.

Also, Lori, do you live on EI? Love the view coming up over the bridge from the north. Beautiful!

Thanks!
Cari

I'd pick the Poly, but if you're going mostly for the SW weekends maybe an Epcot resort with boat transportation to MGM would be more convenient ?

Aloha Iotts,
From a fellow Hoosier, I vote Polynesian. It is very relaxing, very tropical, and Wishes on the beach (with a Mai Tai) can't be beat. Throw in Kona, O'hana, a Luau, and a Monorail and it will make your trip from Indy worth it!

Cari,

No, I live in Greensboro. My ILs have 2 properties on Long Beach. The view is beautiful on EI.

I prefer the GF because I have never experienced the pools to be crowded. You can rent a cabana for 1/2 of a day or the whole day. It has a tv, frig. and chairs for your personal use.

We enjoy walking to the boat dock and getting on the boat and heading for the MK. This boat also stops at the Poly.

You really can't go wrong with any of the three! I just felt it was so much easier dealing with small children at the GF. It's hard to explain why. The CMs were always so sweet to my children. Some say the resort is stuffy but we have never experienced it.

But I do have to confess that we are staying at the CR over Thanksgiving. My DS5 wants to stay in the monorail hotel! I was over ruled by my children.

Actually, allears lists the CR as having bigger rooms.

We've stayed at both; we prefer the CR. Our youngest was just under 2 on her first trip there and she loved watching the monorails; she still does. My older kids prefer the CR over the Poly. They just find it a more fun resort.

The Poly is nice. It's really just a personal preference.

Definitely a fellow hoosier! What a treat. I grew up in Lafayette, graduated from Harrison HS back in 93'. All three of my brothers are engineers out of Purdue and my parenst still live in the area. Nice to run in to you!

Great TR! Read the whole thing in an hour! :wizard:

Ok, here is where I stand. I love the decor in the rooms at CR but much prefer the food choices and activities at the Poly. Is it as easy to get back and forth from Poly to MK as Trek's TR indicated it is from CR?

Thanks again!:goodvibes

Aloha again Iotts,
Getting back and forth from the Poly to the MK is no prob! Normally, we take the monorail to the MK and the launch from the MK. I love the boat ride "home" after a day at the park. Its very relaxing and helps you unwind a little. It does stop at the GF first, but its still a quick trip - plus, I love boats!
