We are trying to decide where to stay this year. My 2 favorites are Contemporary and AKL. Our kids are ages 4 and 6. The pricing for our dates through WDW Reservations are as follows (the stay, 6 nights plus a 5 day park hopper for everyone)

Contemprary:

Std. View - $2696.24
MK view - $3406.24

AKL:

Std. View - $2462.24
Savannah View - $3004.24

Based on your experiences, where should we stay??? I'm torn, I like both resorts!

Thanks!

We would say go the savanna view room at the AKL. We have stayed at the AKL five times since it has opened in April of 2001 and truely love the resort. The CR is nice and its access to the MK cannot be compared, but for us we would go with the AKL over the CR everytime.

Another Savannah room at AKL vote here. There's nothing like waking up to a giraffe under your window.

I would definately stay at AKL. I love that place, nothing but positive things to say about it. I have stayed at CR a couple of times, but the AKL is just my favorite. The restaurants are great, the animals, the pool, everything!!! :goodvibes

Why not split your stay? Do the AKL for your first part of you trip, then stay at the CR for the last part. Save the best for last as I always say! Then you will have MK and Epcot to look forward too and can take the Monorail or even walk to MK. Plus you can say you stayed at 2 of Disney's deluxe hotels and won't have to be using the bus to go everywhere. If you stay at AKL you will be using the bus service to go the other parks. I'm spilting my stay at AKL for two days then going to the Poly for 4 more. Be adventurous and try it! :cool1:

We're splitting our stay at these resorts in April-1st 6 nights at AKL-Savannah and last 2 nights at CR-Tower. We love AKL, but really wanted to stay at CR for the MK convenience and we got great rates so we split it. Sorry that's not much help, I guess, but that's what we're doing.

I am going to consider doing both. I just don't like to have to check out and check in again. But, we are driving so we will have our own car. we may spend one day and drive to Clearwater Beach. If we don't split it, I think I want to go with AKL too! Thanks! :cool1:

Good Morning,

We honeymooned at the AKL, savanah view and the CR,tower lagoon view and really did prefer the AKL. We found the AKL to be a very warm , friendly hotel with smiling cm's and a relaxing atmosphere. But I did enjoy being at the CR for our last few days for the ease of transportation and the ability to walk back and forth to MK. For our next big vacation we are going to split between ASMu and Wilderness Lodge. I like the split, it's like 2 vacations in one.

Enjoy your trip,
heidi :earsgirl:

Another proponent of a split stay here. I like the 2 vacations in 1 feeling as well. I'd do CR first tho & save AKL for relaxing & recovering at the end of the trip. That's what we are doing with our split between Dolphin & AKL.....

I may be in the minority here, but I would stay at the CR instead of AKL...having stayed at both, for convenience the CR can't be beat. Of course, AKL has the whole atmosphere thing going on, but just a look outside a window at CR gives you the World!

Since your kids are so young, I would split your stay or do CR. The resort will tranfer your luggage for you if you decide to split

The AKL is beautiful, and I always go to the Boma so I can visit, but I wouldn't stay there. It is just too remote for me. I don't want to waste my time on the buses or driving my own car and parking. At the CR, you can walk in the MK. If you forget something, need a change of clothes, need to use the bathroom, etc. you can be back at your room in 10 minutes. I was able to jog back to the hotel from the gates of the MK in 3 minutes.

Another vote for CR, although I have never stayed at AKL. With young children though, CR cannot be beat. I have also split stayed before and found it to be relatively hassel free.

Just an FYI, there is no "MK" view at CR. Do you mean a tower vs the wings? Cr will not guarentee a "MK" view.
