We are spending 6 nights at the Contemporary in late July/early August. Right now I have a lake view room booked. It would cost about $350 more for a park view room. I would appreciate opinions of whether you think it is worth it to spend the extra money for park view and why or why not.
Thanks in advance.

For us, it's not worth it. Though we enjoy a good view, the lake view from CR is STUNNING, with Bay Lake being gorgeous and surrounded by trees. We feel like we're in the parks all day and having that pretty lake is a perfect way to enjoy a different part of WDW. I'd save the $350, because you'll still have a nice view to enjoy.

Also, be aware that not all park view rooms at the Poly are created equal. Especially if you get in one of the buildings that sits perpendicular to the lake, you can still get a bit of a lake view from room classified as park views.

I'd go for the park view and then work with the desk to get the best of the rest ... and pocket the difference.

Both views are nice. But park view gives you your own balcony view of the fireworks. Plus you get to wake up/go to sleep to being able to look right into the park.

If you've got your days pretty well planned out and not going to spend that much time in the room then you spending the extra for a view you're not going to see much of might not be that worthwhile though...

I think the upgrade is worth $350 extra. Think of the whole trip cost and you're just adding a few extra dollars for one magical extra experience. You'll wake up and go to sleep with a great view of the castle! You'll have your own private view of the fireworks. Yes. I would say $350 up charge would be worth it.

I'm so glad to hear that, as we'll be staying in a lake view this weekend. When the 35% RO discount first came out, a TPV wasn't available, but Bay Lake view was, so I booked that. Then when the Stay-Play-Dine deal was offered, the TPV room was available ... but at a $500 overall price increase. It had already cost us so much just for the lake view room at the CR, we couldn't justify paying that much extra.

I have only stayed lake view, but loved it! We ate breakfast on the balcony every morning and every night I relaxed on the balcony to wind down from the day. I enjoyed watching the boats, the people at the pool and the I even watched the electrical water parade a few nights.
