We stayed in the Garden Wing this summer. It is a little walk to the transportation bus, you can use Google Earth to zoom in and compare to other properties.
One thing I like about the garden wing is that you can go back and forth to the pool in wet bathing suits without going through the hotel lobby and elevators. Also, if you have a rental car, the garden wing has its own parking lot and you will have a very short walk to your room, most likely the quickest walk at any deluxe resort. It is definitely worth a try...you wont get a less expensive room at a monorail resort. One thing to consider about the morning sunrise is that the 2nd and 3rd floors don't have balconies, just sliding doors with a guard rail that open maybe six feet or so. The first floor rooms do have patios at most if not all rooms. We once had a patio room facing the canal and the electric pageant went each evening by but no show/music, just moving from Bay Lake to Seven Seas. Not sure if the lake view rooms have a direct view of the pageant show.
