Contemporary Garden Wing

Hi All, My BF and I are heading to Disney from 2/24-3/2/18. Right now I have us booked in the Dolphin but would ultimately like to switch to the Contemporary Garden Wing because he stayed there with his family in '96. Right now there is no availability package or otherwise for any room in the Garden Wing. Is this typical and is there a possibility rooms will open up?

A lot of people book it 499 days out. It is also popular with conference groups using the Contemporary Convention Center. There is a possibility it opens up, but it is not a sure thing by any means. Most conferences only block as many rooms as they think they can sell.

It could open up. Don't count on it, but I think it could, especially if you can live with some uncertainty up until 1-2 months ahead, especially within the few days after discounts are announced. You might not be a passholders, for instance, but a passholder could decide to cancel a Garden Wing room. If you're not checking for cancellations a few days after the discount is released, you'll miss out on a cancellation.

When I booked our October (a bit 'late' by my standards in April) trip for MNSSHP, the only room available at the CR was a theme park view room on the club level. We are going exclusively for MNSSHP so being nearby MK was our top priority. I took the club level room even though I really was not interested in staying there or paying such a high price. I really wanted Garden Wing. I have been checking daily since April. Yesterday I got it!! Two nights at least. The first night we'll have to stay at at the club level, but I managed to get the second two (oddly, I had to book them individually and get guest services to help me combine them into one stay so that we don't have to change rooms a second time). It is a substantial savings, too! It's around $800 so I am very happy.

Be persistent. People's plans change all of the time, especially as it gets closer to your travel dates. Check frequently (since the Magical Holidays discount was announced, I checked several times a day). Hopefully you will get lucky!

I definitely am not counting on it and will be keeping the Dolphin room unless we get one. Glad to know there's some hope!

Keep checking back, people cancel reservations all the time. When I want a certain room and there isn't any availability I check every morning to see if it's available now. Also try clicking on the change button next to the dates and hit okay without changing anything and see if it shows availability then. The website has been a little glitchy lately.

Thanks, I will try that. I'm really hoping to be able to book it and surprise him when we get there by telling him i couldn't change it. He wants to stay there 80% for nostalgia and 20% because of the gym even though we're going down to use run princess.

oh - you're almost 6 months out there. Yeah - there's a good chance that a room will come available between then and now. I'd also look at the lake view rooms in the tower which aren't TOO much more expensive too (and may also come available during a sale)

2 years ago I was stalking a TPV room at the Contemporary for NYE with no availability and several popped up at 2 months out.
