Contemporary Garden Wing Room

I didn't love the Contemporary hotel but did prefer the GW over the tower. I found the tower/hotel very busy and annoying to travel with a stroller. If I remember correctly you had to take multiple elevators due to them not going to all floors.

I liked being able to walk right from the MK into my room (1st floor) in the GW. Quick walk to the pool. The room felt very spacious and we kept our single stroller open the entire time.

RE: stroller

Don't leave anything of value in the stroller when you go on an attraction. Items have been stolen in the past.

Also, last year a woman was caught trying to sell a stroller that she had stolen at one of the WDW parks. Perhaps a bicycle lock would be a good idea to try to prevent this.

Have fun on your trip.
You cannot lock your stroller to anything. You can lock one set of wheels (back or front).

Thank you for all of the replies.

Are there any differences room wise between the BLT Studio and a CR room? Are the prices typically similar if they have availability? Would you book the CR Garden Room or BLT studio if prices were similar?
Big difference. BLT studios are tight with a queen bed and double sleeper sofa. Barely any room around them. The wing rooms are spacious with a day bed and two queens. I'd never book a BLT studio ever. Except if I was staying by myself for the trip.

We are the same! My twins will turn 6 next month. Garden wing is GREAT. Super quiet. Rooms are identical to tower. The walk to the main building isn't bad, though we requested close to main building both times we have stayed in the garden wing and got our request. We are booked again for October. I like the first floor, too, so we can get the stroller in and out so easily without elevators.

I do have another question for you. I think your signature shows that you guys stayed at WL also. Your thoughts on WL. If you had to pick between the 2 considering the twins, which would you choose?

Contemporary rooms are larger than WL rooms. And you can walk to the MK. You can't walk from WL.

Thanks. Also, wondering which they preferred with for their twins\toddlers? Ease with twins\toddlers? Food options? Functionality of the rooms with twins\toddlers?

For instance, in one of the videos i watched it the Garden View room didn't appear to have any drawers to be able to unpack your suit case.

BRV's studio's are much better than the GW rooms, we haven't stayed in the regular WL rooms so cannot comment. The GW rooms are nice, we are staying there for a week in August. We love the fact you can walk too and from the MK. We also love the boats from WL to MK, these are our 2 favorite resorts. If the twins are in a stroller I would choose GW, being able to get a ground floor room and being able to walk to the MK would be worth it imo. Using a stroller from WL is fine using a large boat, but if you get one of the smaller ones you have to fold it up, so not sure if that would be an issue. We truly love WL BRV's, but the perks of CR GW outweigh it when staying for a prolonged period.

My wife and I stayed in the garden wing last August. While I really liked the room, my wife hated it and never wants to go back. She hated that the ceilings in the hallway are so low.

As far as not being in the tower, it’s a non issue. It’s a short covered walk. It’s also nice being in walking distance from MK.

We’re trying to decide between the Garden Wing or Tower for our next trip.
I can see the low ceilings being an issue for my family. We some issues with claustrophobia. Did you experience this issue in the room too, or just the hall?

Glad I found this thread. I have booked a standard garden wing room for May next year. It will be myself and DD 24-was concerned about the distance to the main tower but the responses above have reassured me. Debating on this and POR Royal Room. We're looking at staying for 10 days and doing deluxe dining so I 'm weighing out the pros and cons of both.... One minute, I choose one, the next I choose the other..... decisions, decisions....

This resort is rather compact.

I'm 6 feet tall. Had no issue with the height of the ceilings in the hallways or in the room.

That's honestly a tough one. Wilderness lodge is our family's all around favorite resort. I have stayed at every deluxe but WL feels like home. The rooms are smaller, yes. But the lobby is so much quieter and the feel is more relaxing in the public spaces. The pool is much better than at Contemporary. That being said, we still book Contemporary for certain trips and I do love it there also. You feel in the thick of things. The view is amazing. And the walk to MK is so so nice. Looking at a one year period I've done: Dec at WL, feb at WL, April at WL, June at comtemp, oct coming at Contemporary, and back to wL this coming December. The June and oct are short trips and MK heavy (Halloween party). The others more vacation and relaxing, so WL wins.

Thanks for the insight. And that is where I go back and forth between the 2 resorts. Quiet and theme vs convienince and larger room.

It will be an 8 day trip. 3 MK days and 1 day at other parks with one down day.

Long trip! Big price differential or the same? For a down day I'd prefer to be at WL. While the walk to MK is brilliant the boat ride is super easy too. Contemporary room is bigger but drawer space is lacking. Have you considered a one-bedroom at copper creek?? If its far enough away you could even rent DVC points.

It is only about $500 price difference. We have already contacted a travel agent so I would feel bad backing out on this with renting dvc. But I do need to look more into this on the future.

I’m so excited!! I have been to Disney many times and this will be the first at CR, I just booked a room garden view wing (saying that right?) I loved reading this post a lot of my questions answered I am also traveling with a my DD she will be 2 when we go so now I know the stroller won’t be an issue and neither will traveling to and from the monorail and also to and from the pool should be very convenient I learned I should ask for a ground floor thanks everyone!! Now I’m trying to search for pictures of a garden view and views?

Touringplans has views of almost all rooms and hotels. Not sure if you have to be a paid subscriber to get that function though.

We have stayed in the tower a few times but grabbed a deluxe garden wing room for a,short trip last December. Its mow my favorite place to stay at CL! Quiet, easy access, more intimate feel...it was great.

We absolutely loved our room in the Garden Wing. We stayed there when my son was 4. Almost everything about staying there was superb—room size, convenient location, service, food options. We took a boat ride to Fort Wilderness one afternoon where my son rode a pony then walked to the Wilderness Lodge and had lunch at Roaring Fork.

The only criticism I had with the resort was the pool area. It was kinda blah. It’s not lushly landscaped, and the slide and pools are plain compared to other resorts at WDW. I’m not sure if it has a splash pad now as that would be an improvement.
