Contemporary Garden Wing Room

I wanted to get the opinions of those that have stayed in them.

Would you again stay in one of the Garden Wing Rooms? We are a family of 4 with twin 5 year olds that will be using a stroller.

Being that it is disconnected from the Main Tower I am not sure how much of an issue or not at all will it be.

We stayed in a Garden Wing room. It was fine. We were on the first floor, facing towards the pool. It was a relatively short walk back to the main tower, and a very short walk to the pool. The room was extremely spacious and while it was just DH and I, we had plenty of room for extra gear.

We had a pretty view of the pool and lake. It's not a far walk at all to the tower

We loved it! The room was spacious and very close to the pool. Quick walk to the Magic Kingdom too. We would definitely stay there again, but keep going back to Beach Club to be close to Epcot. If I recall, there is a covered walkway from Garden Wing rooms to the main building.

There is an interior hallway to get there, you are correct. You can also walk outside towards the pool and down those stairs, and head through the garden area to the Garden rooms as well.

I stayed in the North Garden Wing (which was torn down and replaced with Bay Lake Tower) in 2002. Very large room (two queen beds,
plus sofa that turned into a bed (fine for children)).

The South Garden Wing is still at the Contemporary Resort. It is not a long walk from there to the main building. There is a covered walkway
in the back of the resort that leads to the lobby.

10 to 15 minute walk to the Magic Kingdom.

Themed pool with slide; quiet pool; kid's splash area.

Monorail station in the main building (easy access to Polynesian Resort; Grand Floridian Resort; Magic Kingdom; EPCOT).

Chef Mickey's and small food court in the main building.

This resort would be a good choice for your family. It's rather compact and the location is very convenient for talking a
mid-day break from the Magic Kingdom (and EPCOT, too).

We would definitely stay in a Garden Wing room again. Very spacious, very quiet, and we could see the Electric Water Pageant from our room. We had a double stroller and were able to leave it open in the room.

My wife and I stayed in the garden wing last August. While I really liked the room, my wife hated it and never wants to go back. She hated that the ceilings in the hallway are so low.

As far as not being in the tower, it’s a non issue. It’s a short covered walk. It’s also nice being in walking distance from MK.

I always preferred the wing rooms to the tower rooms. Other than the lack of balcony, the rooms are identical to the tower rooms. We always had long waits for the tower elevators that we didn’t have in the wing. I would stay there again, no question (except for those pesky $24 per night parking fees . . .probably won’t be doing deluxe for a while).

We are the same! My twins will turn 6 next month. Garden wing is GREAT. Super quiet. Rooms are identical to tower. The walk to the main building isn't bad, though we requested close to main building both times we have stayed in the garden wing and got our request. We are booked again for October. I like the first floor, too, so we can get the stroller in and out so easily without elevators.

Glad to hear that it wasn’t that long of a walk and easy to get to with a stroller. We will also have the double stroller so leaving it open as an option is good to hear.

We plan to do 3 days at MK so that is why we are looking into CR.

We did poly when the kids were three and the monorail wasn’t working some times which was disappointing. Being able to walk to MK, use the monorail, and restaurants was an attraction to CR this time.

Yes! We liked it a lot. The rooms are exactly like those in the Tower, except you're in a quiet garden wing instead of a noisy building that feels like an airport. Since you've got a stroller, ask for the ground floor.

We stayed in the garden wing leading up to our wedding in 2012. We (we had 5 rooms in a block for our families prior to our wedding) were in the last couple rooms on the 1st floor at the end closer to the waterway where the boats head through to wilderness lodge. Our rooms faced out toward the pool area and it was a super quick walk to the main tower and transportation to the parks. Would absolutely stay in the garden wing again.

Additional info for the OP:

The first floor rooms have a patio with two chairs.

There are a few rooms that do have balconies (the wing near Bay Lake and the section near the canal that connects Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.

RE: stroller

Don't leave anything of value in the stroller when you go on an attraction. Items have been stolen in the past.

Also, last year a woman was caught trying to sell a stroller that she had stolen at one of the WDW parks. Perhaps a bicycle lock would be a good idea to try to prevent this.

Thanks. We have been to WDW world a number of times and i always rent the double stroller and get insurance. Just easier that putting it on a plane or eating up half the storage space in a vehicle.

We try to stay at a different resort every year and considering CR this year as one of the options.

Glad I found this thread. I have booked a standard garden wing room for May next year. It will be myself and DD 24-was concerned about the distance to the main tower but the responses above have reassured me. Debating on this and POR Royal Room. We're looking at staying for 10 days and doing deluxe dining so I 'm weighing out the pros and cons of both.... One minute, I choose one, the next I choose the other..... decisions, decisions....

Are there any differences room wise between the BLT Studio and a CR room? Are the prices typically similar if they have availability? Would you book the CR Garden Room or BLT studio if prices were similar?

I have stayed in a BLT studio and the layout makes them feel small because of the space taken up by the bathroom and kitchenette area and that was just with 2 of us. Definitely not much room to move around once the couch is made into a bed. I would not stay there with 4 people.

Contemporary rooms are 394 sq feet and BLT studio are 339. You will definitely feel that difference with 2 kids. Touring Plans says the area in the studios where the bed, sofa and tv are is about 170 square feet.

The BLT studios are small, probably best for two people and a small child in our experience. The CR rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. While we own at BLT (and love it!), we would take the CR room over the BLT studio in a heartbeat. While the CR tower is terrific, it can be quite bustling and the garden rooms are much quieter, a nice break from a jam-packed park day.
