Hi everyone! So it’s been a long stretch for all of us and husband and I have decided to take an “us only” trip in October or November this year. We were married at the Boardwalk in 2013 and have always taken the kids with us when we go and it’s time for some alone time. I had my heart set on the Poly but we know how that goes. GF is about $1000 more than the CR so I’m leaning to CR for cost savings. We will only be doing HS and MK. I know the GF has a romantic feel but do you think the CR would have the same? Or should we shell out the big bucks and make it a GF trip. YC is tempting too. I’m so undecided!!

When we do an adults only trip... YC typically gets the nod. Newer rooms, decent chance of getting a king bed, we enjoy lounging around SAB, diversity of walkable options around for dining (in normal times). Although typically our trips would involves jaunts into Epcot for drinks/dinner so YC has a big locational advantage on that front, but sounds like that might not be a part of your park plan.

I don’t think CR is very ‘romantic’, but it is relaxing and IMO has the best/most romantic restaurant on property in California Grill. Can’t beat the walk to MK since that’s on your park plan list.

I wouldn’t spend $1,000 more on GF (BTW, that seems like a very big price difference, what room types are you comparing and/or length of your trip?), but that’s just me.

So many pros/cons with each, always so hard to pick.

I would do YC. You will get the "romance" factor with a smaller price tag. You may also want to consider pricing out a studio at BWV or BCV. Or even consider a studio at RIV? If you really want to do CR, I would actually consider a garden wing room. I find them much quieter than the tower rooms and you wouldn't have to contend with the dreadfully crowded tower elevators.

The Contemporary,, to me, has the feel of generic high rise hotel. It's main advantage being able to walk to MK

The Yacht Club is our favorite and has easy access to HS as you can walk. However, it is quite a distance, so for some that is an issue. It would be bus transportation to MK. Contemporary has easy access to MK and bus to DS.

I do not find the CR to be especially romantic, but based on what is currently open, they do have the best restaurant options. Their pool area is nice, but is not Stormalong Bay, so that may be a consideration if you are planning pool time.

Hmmm. None of the above? :D

We do love Yacht/Beach.

But...we (two adults) are super excited to try out Gran Destino next year. First, I had no idea CSR was such a beautiful resort. The grounds are very lush - I've watched so many walking tour vidoes! The pool looks awesome.

So the rooms, the decor, the bars/lounges and the main restaurant at Gran Destino look fabulous. And the outdoor deck off the lounge! The rooms don't have balconies, so if that's a deal-breaker, then GDT isn't for you. But we always book a balcony and then never end up using it.

And the hotel - while kid friendly - just gives a more adult vibe.

And....the price can't be beat! :)
