I would love some advice regarding the Contemporary. Are they still putting Shades of Green visitors there? Also, there don't seem to be as many good deals at the contemporary (AP rates) and you don't hear about the hotel as much as the others. We would like to try it out in May but we don't pay rack rates. Does anyone have an opinion regarding AP rates for the Contemporary in May, what they might be? I guess I am talking Garden Wing rooms, since the Tower may be too expensive. However, it seems so convenient to walk to MK if we want. Has anyone put four adults in a room here before with a child too? Would we be cramped? I looked at the floorplan and it looks like the toilet is separate from the tub and sink. It seems like a wonderful set-up. Any advice is appreciated!:jester:

Hi,
Last year my husband and I with son 22 years and youngest son 17 years stayed at the Contemporary at Christmas. Of course since it was Christmas we had to have a tree too! We all fit fine and we are not ones for a tight fit! I am sure you will love the Contemporary as we did. Five should be comfortable.
Have fun, its my favorite place.

Yes, they are stil putting Shades of Green guests in the North Garden Wing. We will be there mid-January, due to the construction delays over at SOG. That is scheduled to go on until sometime in March.

wonderful resort. It has to be my current favorite resort. I think that if you tried it, you would enjoy it greatly! Have fun planning your trip.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe there will be more rooms available in May with SOG opening, and subsequently a decent AP rate for the Contemporary. What about the rooms? Are the garden wings in bad shape? I know the tower rooms are incredible. We may have to consider those if we got a great rate.

Hi There,
We stayed at CR 2 yrs ago. We were in the north garden wing, overlooking MK. We could see the fireworks from our window. The rooms are abt the largest of any Disney resort. They are all abt the same size, with the exception of some at the top of the tower (larger balaconies). 2 queens, couch/daybed.

The bathrooms are large. The toilet is in a seperate "room". It also has a nice counter & a well lighted mirror. Very nice for blow drying your hair while your family is still sleeping.

I think a family of 6, 2 adults, 2 kids & 1 baby in a crib would have plenty of room.

"Kimberle", I appreciate your comments. Also, I had to write and tell you I think your daughter is precious. She is the same age as my son and I see your comments across the board occasionally. The picture of your daughter looks like it is straight out of a brochure for Disney. Makes me smile everytime I see it. Thanks again! -Lisa

You're welcome, Lisa!

I'm sure where ever you stay, you'll have a wonderful time!
At Disney, who couldn't!!

Let me first say that I just love the Contemporary. Maybe the theming is not as great as some other hotels, but you cannot beat the convenience of being close to the MK (especially if you have young children).

My husband and I just booked the Contemporary for May 2004. We just got back from our stay at the Poly with our 1 yr old soon and we loved that too -- but since we've been staying at the Poly the last few trips we decided it was time to go back to the Contemporary.

Let me give you some advice if you are thinking of a stay in May -- BOOK NOW. You wouldn't believe how full that resort seems to be already for that time of year. We couldn't even get a AAA discount for the wings (I must admit that we were trying for 14 days so length of stay may be affecting availability). Rack rate rooms are available, but those with a discount seem to be gone already.
We are AP holders so we are still hoping to get a better rate, but right now I'm happy we finally got a room with some type of discount -- travel agent was able to get us a AAA rate by changing our arrrival date a little.

Wow! I had no idea.....I will call today.
We stayed at the Poly in May and we got really spoiled being on the Monorail, but we stayed at a discount.
Could you tell me, what do you do if you get an AP rate later and you already have a booked room? Can they just add it to your current reservation, or do you have to score a room in the AP block? Also, if someone in our party has a AAA membership, does the ressie have to be in their name? Thanks so much!

I think they need to do a complete new reservation, although they can apply the deposit you already put down to the new reservation. I think that's how it works when the ap rates are released.

What we did was book a standard view garden wing at the Contemporary. With the AAA discount the room (without tx) is $237. Not a great price by some standards, but when you compare it to the rack rate of the tower ($370) and the Poly ($344), it is much easier to swallow. I look at it like this, if I can get an ap rate for the wing or even the tower, than great. But if I can't at least I was able to secure a somewhat reasonable room rate on the monorail. After checking and seeing that the dates for May (especially early May) were already full, I went ahead and booked it. We're staying May 8-22. I didn't want to chance it.

Also, I think the ap rates for the contemporary were in the range of $250 for the tower and $199 for wing rooms the last time they were released.

Hi. I can't answer about AAA, but we do the AP thing all the time. We have the room booked and then when the discounts come out, call and they change it over. We've done that the past 2 years.

By the way, we were at the Poly the week of May 8-17. It wasn't crowded at all. I hope the crowd levels are low for you.

Does anyone know what the AP rate was for the Contemporary last May, or other regular season date? We went ahead and booked two rooms April 21-25. I am hoping the AP rates come out to be around $200. I'm also hoping we don't find it a LONG hike from the garden wing rooms to the monorail. Oh well, anything is better than riding a bus all day.

All I can say is...I can't wait for the 17th of December to get here! We are so excited about staying at the Contemporary!!!
