I just found out that dd will be on meds while we're there...and they have to be refrigerated. Does anyone know if the Contemporary will give you a fridge if it's for medicine? I heard they did, then I think I remember they changed their policy and now everyone has to rent. Any insight on this?

Thanks,
Lisa :D

We just got back from CBR this week. My DS had medicine that had to be refridgerated. I called Disney to find out what to do. I think I was really lucky but the person who helped me said that getting a fridge for my DS was not a problem and that there would be no charge since he had medical conditions that required the meds. When we got there, there was no fridge. However, I called and one was brought over quickly. We were not charged for it either. I would suggest you call and speak with them and let them know your reasons for needing the fridge. Hopefully you will be as successful as we were. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Who did you call? I'm just wondering where I might get the best results.;) I will have a collapsible cooler with us, but if we can get a fridge, it would be much better!
Thanks,
Lisa :D

My best friend and her son who needs insulin are going with me in Oct. I called the WL and they told me that it would be provided free of charge. Do not know if that helps you at all .....

Do you need to bring any kind of proof to show that you need the refrigerator for medicine or do they take you on your word?

I called the reservation number that I booked the trip with (I am still confused about the whole Disney Reservations groups). This was the number on all of my itinery sheets.

I told them my son had medical conditions that required medication to be refridgerated. They did not ask any questions or ask for proof when we got there.

If they asked for proof, it's likely the medicine containers will say regrigerate.

We had a fridge during our stay at the Contemporary. They are typical size. :) We got ours for free since we were on the club floor, but for medication I'm sure they'll give to you for free. Good luck!

Both my son & I have been on meds requiring refridgeration for the past 10+ years - WDW has always provided the refridgerator free of charge - One CRO CM did tell me I needed to bring proof of illness, but the resort CM's said that was a crock - the meds containers are clearly marked if refridgeration is necessary.
If a room isn't ready when you arrive, they can store your meds in a central refridgerator until you have a place to store them in your room.
The theme parks will also store meds at the First Aid station, if you need to take doses mid-day of these meds. Ditto for sharps....
