Hi! I'm new here, so any help is appreciated! My family of four, including me, DH :earsboy: , DD (17) :earsgirl: , and DD (15) :earsgirl: are planning a trip to wdw in June of 2006. We were hoping to stay in the 14th floor Concierge service at the Contemporary. However, I would rather have a renovated room then the concierge service. Are the 14th floor rooms being renovated along with the rest of the hotel? Or, will the newly refurbished 12th floor rooms be comparable to 14th floor service? Thanks for any help! :teeth:

Hi, I am going to bump you up for info.

I have read that the 14th floor rooms are going to be the last ones rehabed. I am definitely with you and agree that it would be better and more important to me, also, to have the redone, new room. We stayed in a MK suite on the 14th floor last Thanksgiving and it was actually shabby and I was disgusted with it.

We are staying Tower Club(Atrium Club) this Thanksgiving and I know it is on the 10th floor and the rooms are done, however I THINK by the time you go next June, Tower Club will have moved up to the 12th floor again, and also have a new lounge area and full concierge service. I am not sure when the 14th floor will be completed, though.

The CR is my kids' all time favorite Disney resort.

Happy planning!

We just stayed 14th floor earlier this month and had a wonderful time. None of the concierge staff knew when the rehab was going to be started.

I stayed on one of the two king non-smoking rooms on the 14th floor (MK view) in January of this year and it was very clean and not at all shabby. I have heard of problems with the suites on that floor.

Anyone else who has additional information on expected changes to the Tower Floor Conceirge changes for 2006, please post it. The price has jumped very dramatically -- like $80 a night -- so it sure seems like something additional should be provided.

Lark, I believe that $80 extra is due to the fact that the Tower Club - when it moves back up to the newly redone 12th floor will be FULL concierge with a NEW lounge, vs. what it is now "concierge light" - just bfast, afternoon snacks and some drinks available in the foyer near the elevators.

When it moves back to the 12th floor, you will see offerings comparable to Poly concierge and GF concierge. There will probably be bfast, snacks around lunch time, afternoon snacks, appetizers, and evening treats & cordials, beer & wine.

I think that really must be the reason for that price difference per night.

Ducklite that is the type of room we were in and it wasn't shabby at all. I didn't love the bathroom but the view of the MK was worth it!

That makes complete sense. I guess the contemporary is really going to be an exciting place in 2006 -- I notice in the latest UOG, the renovated rooms have now jumped to the top of the list in terms of the guide's ranking; overcoming the GF, which has been at the top for many years.

Thanks to everyone! It is so much money, I want to make the right decisions! We have always loved visiting the Contemporary, and now we want to stay there!!

Unless you really have your heart set on the 14th floor I would check out the Atrium Club. It is slated to be back on 12 and running as a full concierge floor in Jan, 2006. I don't think the views are significantly different between 12 and 14 so unless you want a suite you might be better off going for Atrium Club....that way you would be sure of getting a renovated room, and would have a MUCH better chance of getting the view you prefer (actually, by the time of your trip you will reserve a room with the specific view/price you prefer anyways) since there are only a few (like 4 I think) non-suite rooms on 14....and by then they will be offering full concierge service, have a nice new lounge with expanded food offerings, etc on 12.

Beware....the CR can be habit forming!! One stay of falling asleep every night watching the castle change colors from your bed and you will be hooked for life!!

Question: Can you request Atrium (12th floor) with MK view? Do you know if you can guarantee with the new pricing?

Hi, I believe all the Tower Club rooms are priced the same and the MK view rooms on the Tower Club floor are by request only.

We have always requested a MK room on the Tower Club floor, and all but once that is what we have had at check in. The one time we didn't get the MK view room, we switched after one night in a Bay room to the MK side. This has been during spring break season, by the way.

The front desk told me many people do not even know they can request the MK view. ;)

It pays to DIS! :flower:
