Contemplating book a cruise leaving Saturday (in like 4 days!) Am I crazy?

Do it! I hope when our responsibilities become less we will be able to book a cruise last minute since we live not far from both Ft. Lauderdale and Miami cruise ports.

Depends how far you have to go to get there. Otherwise, go for it!

I assume you're close enough to the port that getting there is not that big of a deal? I'd see if you can get a rapid PCR test anywhere near you to at least have a better idea of the likelihood of being turned away, but considering you'd get a refund if you were, I don't even know if that matters. It's not like you'd have been planning it for such a long time that getting turned away for a negative test would be devastating or anything.

Those who've booked and dealt with the Safe Passage system for verifying your vaccination status, etc., would be better equipped to tell you whether that's something that needs more time. I'm assuming if Disney is allowing it to be booked, that's not an issue though.

I wish we lived close enough to book last minute cruises (we'd have to already happen to have the time off from work though too).

Maybe because I'm just jealous of the freedom and ability to do it, but I imagine a last minute trip like that could turn out to be a really great trip.

Not crazy at all!! I was told last month that I could book the days before… yeah I tried that last month and it didn’t go so well… they told me no now it has to be 48hrs in advance because of DCLsafe passage… again I have literally booked cruises less then 48hrs for sailing!! DO IT!

As long as you can get there, can afford it and are not shirking other responsibilities, there's nothing wrong with it at all. And a cruise doesn't require much planning. Have fun!

If have didn't have any other responsibilities I would do in a heartbeat. Make a decision quick because I think you have to book at least 3 days out...at least that is what I heard as customs/immigration needs the passenger info.

I'm contemplating booking a cruise leaving Saturday. That's 4 days lead time.
Am I crazy?
Is there any thing I'm not thinking of that would make this a bad idea?
I don't need to book any specific excursions or activities.
I love crazy. You want to hear something crazier- not doing it. I would take a Covid test before booking but besides that I say go for it!

We did that in August but we were 5 days out lol. It was amazing!!!!!

Unless it's changed due to COVID, you could book as late as the day before. You just had to do it by phone within 3 days, not online.

After the last couple of years I think we can all do a little shirking. 😁

Did this last month.

Found out about a possible COVID exposure on Jan 1, so cancelled our Jan 2 Fantasy cruise rightaway. Waited about three days to get our PCR test results. Did another rapid test on Jan 4. All negative. Booked the Jan 8 B2B on the Magic in the evening. Flew in on Jan 6 and were on the ship on Jan 8.

The only watch-out would be using FCCs that are currently applied elsewhere. The department that handles that doesn't work the same hours or at the same speed.
