Contacts for Astigmatism

If you are asking me (I mentioned cloudiness with Acuvue Oasys), it's both solutions I've tried. Doesn't seem to do it to everyone, but it happens with that particular contact lens with enough people that more than a few reviews mention it. But then just as many say "What?! I don't get any cloudiness at ALL!" My eye doc mentioned the possibility that I have a lot of protein in my tears or something. So I have to not just rinse and soak my lenses, I have to rub them as well. I do this, but it doesn't stop the cloudiness by day 2. So basically, these "1-2 week" disposables are daily disposables for me. I wear them only occasionally now, for special occasions, since I have to throw them away after 1 wearing.

Yes it was you I was asking about the cloudiness.

When I was fitted for my lenses I asked the office nurse if she recomended any particular solution. She said to use "OPTI-FRESH Replenish" due to the type of material used in the contacts. She also said the lenses had to be rubbed not just rinsed. So far it has worked for me.

Won't your doctor exchange them for you?

I use the replenish, too. My eye doc told me to. I didn't bother to exchange them, since they are the only contacts I've ever been able to wear for a more than an hour or 2, even if it is only when they are brand new.

I used to wear B & L SofLens 66 Toric, but they made my eyes red.

For the last year or so, I've been in PureVision Torics. I like these much better. They are more comfortable, don't redden my eyes, and I see more clearly. And, these lenses last longer - 4 weeks, as opposed to the 2 weeks for the SofLens.

I've been wearing Boston Envision RGP for the last 15 years. Went to my eye doctor today and he wants me to try soft contacts. I can't wear my RGPs for as long as I use to without them feeling like rocks in my eyes, so we are going to try the soft contact route.

I have a cold so he wouldn't fit me today so I'm not sure what he is going to recommend. I'm going back on Monday.

Anyone switch from RGPs to soft and have any words of wisdom?

I'm afraid I'm going to tear them up because I'm use to the pop and go of the RGPs.

I am so glad to see this thread. I have been "contact shopping" for the last couple of months. I'm to the point of needing bi-focals and last year when I got my first progressive lens eyeglasses, I didn't care for them. I thought this year I would give contacts another try and the Dr. gave me Soflens Multifocals....first pair; couldn't see anything, 2nd pair was great for distance (so clear) but close-up is blurry. I've tried Monovision, Proclear, Proclear Compatibles, Biomedics EP.
I go back in two weeks and I'm just going to get the daily type and get some cute readers. Does anyone have a suggestion on which are the best?

Prior to trying out the bifocal contacts, I always wore Acuvue Oasys.

I use Acuvue Daily Moist and I'm happy. However, I do find that they dry out a bit at the end of the day a bit when compared to Acuvue Oasys.
