We are finally going to try and do a water park on our trip this year. In the past, a January trip was not the best weather for water play. We are hoping for a better shot with early December. The problem is my DS who will be 11 when we go. He has pretty bad uncorrected vision. At 10 we have gotten the ok for contacts and he loves them!! He can see so much better and enjoys our local pool so much more now that he can see in the water. He wears the contacts all the time and we invested in a really good pair of safety swim goggles. They are leak proff and he swims, dives, everything with them on.
It seems I had read that goggles were not allowed at he water park. I wonder about the safety ones? What have others with poor vision done at the water park? He could not safely climb and get around with out his contacts. He will want to do even the biggest slides and I know that his glasses would not survive that. Any help is welcome.

I've worn swim goggles at TL. No problem. These were the kind that look like welders goggles ; )

The kind that are NOT allowed at the water parks are dive masks... the ones that cover the nose as well. I've never understood the reason.

Biggest worry to me is having them pulled off by the moving water. I am a little paranoid and grab for the goggles when the wave starts to tumble me around. I also wear a swimmer's nose clip.

If he can jump - not dive - in the local pool and have them stay in place I'd say you're fine.

Thanks Ronda,

That sounds like his will be just fine. How did you like TL? We were leaning toward BB but will have to see which is open in Dec. Anyone else had any problems with contacts at the Water Parks?

I wore goggles at both water parks. Some rides, like the family raft ride and 8 lane tobbogan racer they were not even necessary. He will be fine with them on.
