Contacted back about my email on kids dessert choices

The grapes and applesauce are still being offered as "sides" with the kids' meals, as well as carrot sticks. The sugar-free Jello is the only dessert item offered for kids at quite a few of the CS restaurants.

An idea that I just had (not sure if it would work), is where the jello is offered as the only dessert option, to ask for an additional side in replacement of the dessert (rather then calling it dessert)? Someone said they had been able to get an extra drink instead of the dessert - so maybe it would work for the kids' CS dessert? Maybe? :confused3

Always good to hear from a fellow Jerseyan! We are from the central area of the state, on the Jersey Shore.

Don't worry too much about sharing. We ate so much while we were in WDW in November that I don't think I was hungry again until mid-December. Other people have said that the portion size has gotten smaller, but we found that between our meals and what the kids left over, we were more than content. My only problem with the Jello thing is that it really isn't an option for us. There were a couple of places that gave us grapes (which was great) but otherwise, if the kids wanted dessert, I had to give them mine.

Are you going to WDW during Jersey Week? We'll be there, too.

Hey Topo.

WE went to the Jersey shore every summer while growing up!!!

No, we won't be there during Jersey week, though would have been neat.
We are going Dec 9th through the 15th.

Sharing won't be bad, as long as i get some....lol

For what it's worth, we were there from Jan. 28th-February 3rd with 3 children (ages 7,5,3) and never had a single cup of Jello. Every time it was offered I asked if there was another option without artificial sweeteners, and I was never refused a different dessert in any of our meals.

From what I can remember, we ate at Cosmic Rays, Tusker House, Sunshine Seasons, Electric Umbrella, Pinocchio's, and several other CS restaurants.

Hey Cuddlemama.

That makes me feel better. I will have to give that a try when we go.

Hello fellow Jerseyan!!!! I'm from SOUTH Jersey, too.:cool1:

We're heading to the world on April 28th and we're gonna be on the DDP and my kids in no way, shape or form will eat jello (sugar free or otherwise). I certainly hope they will substitute or I might have some unhappy kiddos on my hands. I guess I'll have to share my dessert:sad: LOL!!!

Hey angbuz!!!

Nice to see a fellow South Jerseyan!!! We are about 10 mins from Deptford Mall!!!

I, too will have to share my dessert... :rotfl:

Cosmic Ray's is the only place I saw folks being denied alternative desserts for the children. (This was February 11.)

I guess it pays to ask.

My daughter has Type 1 Diabetes. In a way I am glad that they offer it, but agree that they should have other choices. Even if it is ONE other choice. But, I like to see that Disney is offering more sugar-free options like the Jell-o, ice cream and brownies. Kids with diabetes should not have to feel left out.

Can your daughter not eat sucralose? (I know other diabetics who do.)

I would not object to the sugar-free dessert option if they had chosen a sweetner that hadn't been shown to be so dangerous (especially for children).

Definitely. I think the problem was that this guy simply wouldn't take no for an answer and got pretty belligerent about it. I'm not sure where he got the idea that he was entitled to something other than was on the menu, or entitled to express his displeasure in such a way to disturb the lunches of a few hundred other people. :scared:
