Hey All!!!

I was watching tv, when the phone rang, and the caller id said MGM Studios, so of course i grabbed that phone immediately.

I had emailed Disney a week about about there only be one choice for kids at counter services for dessert, that being sugar-free jello.

Sugar free jello contains aspartame and I would never give my DS(3) that as it is not good for them and it also gives my DH chest palpitations.

She swore up and down that there is more than sugar free jello on the kids dining plan at all the counter services.

I read their menus and only saw a small handful that had 2 choices for them.

Am I missing something? Is there anything other than sugar free jello at all counter services?

BTW....She was very unfriendly...she wasn't rude, but just didn't have that Disney Magic like most do...oh well

Thanks
Trentmom

too bad she wasnt magical but hey atleast you have that on your caller id! can you save it?

I agree, I would never give my guys aspartame either. Last summer I was given the same dessert for my kids as I got at the cs. Did that change?

Same here. When did that change? :confused3

We were in WDW a few weeks ago. At the majority of CS that we ate, jello was the only option for the kids. Our kids shared desserts with us instead of eating the jello. When I said that there was no need in taking the jello because my kids wouldn't eat it, the cashier at the Pop Century commented that most people didn't seem to take it. I was not allowed to substitute desserts for our kids.

Wow! Glad my youngest is now considered an "adult" at Disney! (At the ripe ol' age of 10!)

I have dish network and it is on my caller id history on the tv and i will definitely be saving that.

It was so cool to see that appear on the caller id across the tv:cool1:

That is what i told the lady on the phone that most of the counter services only have sugar free jello for the kids. She bascially said that is not true, they all have at least 2 choices and it says so on the disney dining plan menus on their website.

Are their detailed menus on the disney.com? I couldn't find any. I had checked the ones on allearsnet.com as a lot of those were recently updated.

I do not let my kids have aspartame either. I am allergic to it to a degree-it makes my mouth almost numb for hours after if I taste something with it and I get a wicked headache. I can't even chew gum with aspartame.

I hear you there. I don't know what Disney was thinking when they came up with using sugar free jello as a dessert..........guess nothing...:confused3

Well, hopefully, if we all complain enough, they will get the message and offer something else for our kids that is not a danger to their health

Wow, I thought I was the only one. Also the reason my kids won't be having the sugar free gelatin (heard its not even Jello brand, and nasty to boot.)

Add to that...two of my kids can't have wheat or nut products, so we probably won't be getting a lot of CS desserts.

I guess we will have to use our snack credits for treats.

Thankfully, we are usually stuffed from our TS meals, so CS dessert isn't as much of a big deal.

I was there in Jan and the only thing that they had for the kids was the sugar free jello. I would not feed my kids anything with aspartame or anything else like it. I really hate these new kids menus!!!!

Was there 2 weeks ago and that's all they still had. I threw it away

My daughter has Type 1 Diabetes. In a way I am glad that they offer it, but agree that they should have other choices. Even if it is ONE other choice. But, I like to see that Disney is offering more sugar-free options like the Jell-o, ice cream and brownies. Kids with diabetes should not have to feel left out.

Sorry 2BusyPlannning. I didn't think about that.

Like you said, they should have at least one other choice.

People think that I'm kidding when I say I'm allergic to aspertame. I get the world's worst headache from it. Needless to say, I won't give it to my children for that reason. Jello was often the only choice for my kids on the DDP and so they usually ate my dessert or DH's.

Hello fellow jerseyan!!!! What part of Jersey you from? South Jersey Here!!!

That sucks. We will be throwing out that jello as well......

DS and I will be stuck sharing desserts all week.....oh well

280 days to go!!!

180 days until we can book our dining ressies!!!
SHOW ME THE FOOD!!!!!

Maybe we should all be taking the sugar free jello from the kids CS meals...and mailing them (full and unopened) to the head honcho that decided this was the 'best' choice for the kids menu. Maybe by the time he/she recieved a few hundred of them....they'd get the point..."We are NOT feeding them to our kids!!" :goodvibes

I do agree that they should offer regular Jell-o along with the sugar-free Jell-o. I could see them making that change relatively readily.

Is this Jello thing new? When we went in December, we always ordered anything off the dessert menu for our kids at CS places and never had a problem. They had cookies, chocolate cake, etc. and no one ever told us they could only have Jello.
