Contact lenses and rides!

I've worn soft contacts for 35 years (yikes!) and have never had one "fly out" of my eye, even when on thrill rides like RnR or Test Track. That's never been an issue at all.

At the water parks, I wear my contacts, too. I just don't open my eyes underwater (I pretty much keep my head out of the water, even when swimming, so it's not an issue). If you go on the more wild slides, it might be more of an issue (if your head ever goes underwater) but I stick to the milder slides.

I do bring a back-up pair of contacts with me at the water parks, just in case (since I wear soft lenses, they're cheap, so bringing a back-up pair isn't a problem).

20 year wearer here and never an issue on fast rides or water parks.. (I do always keep a few spares tucked here and there just in case though..)

Trust me, your questions aren't weird at all! I've worn contacts for 5 years and glasses for almost 20 years. I've had no problem with contacts on rides, think I've had more trouble with glasses, especially on rockin' roller coaster. There are times when I have to squint if it feels like something might happen while on a ride. I keep eye drops with me at all times to make sure they're moist since they'll pop out if they get too dry.

With water parks, I leave my contacts in. Just make sure there's no water dripping from your face when you open your eyes. It's always good to have a towel close by. I usually wear big sunglasses that help keep water out of my eyes.

Always bring several extra pairs with you! Maybe even carry a pair with you at the parks if you have a bag. It's always good to be prepared. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your stories and tips, it has put my mind to ease quite a bit.

On a related note I am loving my contacts, there is such a freedom when you are not wearing glasses. I know it is a small thing but the other day I put normal sunglasses on for the first time in about 15 years, I put them on top of my head like a head band when I went inside, I stopped dead in my tracks, realized what I did and excitedly told my BF that I was just like a normal person  He though I was insane :rotfl2: but small things like that are just not possible when you wear prescription glasses full time.

If you are reading this and are considering getting contacts for the first time, do it! It's tricky to get used to at first but it gets easier with practice, and it's definitely worth it.
