Does anyone know the contact information for Walt Disney World Execs? President of theme parks? Head Imagineer??? TIA. I want to write about the lack of boy themed rides and attractions. Its all Princesses all the time. Even the new Fantasyland overhaul is geared all towards girls. I have all boys. What about them ? Don't we count?? Where are the thrill rides? Adventure experiences? Villian encounters?? Universal Studios has the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening very soon. My boys are all really excited about it. Disney better wake up and realize that there are two sexes of children and they are consistantly ignoring 50 % of their customer base. Or they may lose a lot of people to the Boy Who Lived. :wizard:

but she lives in NYC and has nothing to do with the parks, etc. and doesn't really want to!! My question is does anybody actually read these letters??

Didn't Disney recently buy Marvel? Sounds like something is already in the works for them to have more boy themed stuff.

Yes, Disney bought Marvel. From what I understand, they felt they had the girls covered and wanted to have options for the boys. So maybe your request is already being answered.

I have to say that we have never really felt slighted ( I have a son) but when I just received the offer to try to win a Disney trip by sending in a picture of my princess, I was a little bummed that we couldn't apply.

I really don't understand this line of thinking. Is a trip to DISNEY WORLD not enough? Why does it bother people if there are special girl-themed activities in addition to the regular park offerings? Aren't the regular park offerings "a gracious plenty" - as my mother used to say - for ANY child?

Along the same lines, what's up with parents who ask, "How can I make our WDW trip special for my child?" HELLO - you're taking your child to Disney World - how much more special can a vacation be?

I suppose the emphasis on the princesses can seem extreme but, with the exception of the few rides in Fantasy Land, there aren't ANY rides in the whole Magic Kingdom that are specifically "girl" or "boy."

I think there is a LOT for boys at WDW. The new pirate experience, Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story, Donald's Restaurantasaurus, the Dino restaurant in DTD, the pirate cruises, etc. Yes, Fantasyland IS themed more for girls (I think boys are not as infatuated with castles), but I do think it is more the culture of boys that has changed....Pooh was originally the Fantasyland installment for boys. I will say adding the dragon in the basement of the castle in DL Paris was a nice touch. However, as the mom of a girl, she finds the whole idea of Tomorrowland to be "the boys' section". She also thinks all the Star Wars stuff in HS is for the boys as well.

We usually stay at the Beach Club, and she finds the whole pirate ship theming of the resort to be "boyish", and laments that there are pirate cruises, but no princess cruises.:confused3

Of course, I HATE the idea of Marvel characters invading the Magic Kingdom. I much prefer to see the parks stay true to Disney/Pixar themes. Somehow, seeing Spiderman standing next to Mickey doesn't sit right in my head.

My boys love Disney. And very much appreciate being there. Just because I as a parent of all boys get a little tired of Princess meals, Princess parties, Princess "boutiques" with nothing comparable for boys does not reflect poorly on them or their appreciation. We also are DVC members and have invested $$$$ of money in Disney because we enjoy it. It doesn't mean that I don't think there are things they could do better ~ more thrill rides or boy themed experiences.

I also only have boys - currently 14 and 11. We've spent a lot of time at Disneyland and have taken them to WDW once (so far!). I agree that there is a ton of princess stuff at the parks. But we also find that there is plenty for boys, too. My boys grew up watching Toy Story and they love the Buzz and TSM rides. They also love Star Wars and will drag us on Star Tours over and over. Jedi Training Academy is a hand-on activity that appeals to boys. The pirates theme has become prominent since the movies started coming out and our boys love that, too. Plus, with the purchase of Marvel Comics, I'm sure we'll see more action/adventure/superhero things in the parks in the future.

I like to look at it this way: We see the racks of expensive princess dresses but we've never had to buy one. We see the huge lines at Princess Fantasy Faire and Pixie Hollow (both in DL) and we've never had to wait in them. I asked my boys on our trip two months ago if they wanted to pop over to see the princesses and they both gave me "the look." Then we went on Space Mountain!:)

I have a husband and a son. Can I borrow a daughter to go to a princess meal in the Castle?

Just a FYI for next time you are there, there is the pirate make over which Disney has started as the boy version of BBB.

I personally don't find the parks overtly geared to the girls. Maybe try Hollywood Studios as there are more boy type stuff there. Tower of Terrror, Rockin Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Toy Story Midway Mainia, Indiana Jones, Lights, Motors, Action and more.

Pirate Cruise, Pirate "boutique," Princess and Pirate party...

I think they are working on it.

but she lives in NYC and has nothing to do with the parks, etc. and doesn't really want to!! My question is does anybody actually read these letters??

I can attest to the the fact that they do indeed read letters. I wrote one about 3 years ago regarding Crush N Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon. My DS sank down into the hole of the tube and received a nasty little rash from the conveyor belts rubbing against his bottom. He didn't want to show anyone at the park, and in all honesty it wasn't anything requiring medical attention.. Just a scrape. And we went on it again. But I still thought that the tubes should have a bottom to them so it wouldn't happed to anyone else. I even said all these things in the letter so they wouldn't think I was after a lawsuit or anything, I just thought they should change the tube construction. I received a phone call from the Vice President of the water parks on a Sunday morning, and we had a very nice talk about it. He offered us a free ticket each to a water park the next time we came. Of course, I accepted his kind offer, but it wasn't what I was looking for. And our next visit to TL a few weeks ago showed that they didn't take my advice..the tubes were still the same.

I also received another call from a woman who was answering the first copy of this letter I sent to an address I thought was not the right one. She was not quite as generous or nice as the Sunday man, but she did call to make sure everything was OK..

I used one of these addresses. I can't remember which one.

http://allears.net/pl/contact.htm It wasn't Iger.

I don't really pay attention to how many girlie rides vs. boy rides. Of course my two boys don't want to do the really girlie stuff (thank God, what does a visit to BBB cost?). So now they are at the age that they like the adult stuff..I don't like girlie stuff, so we are good with the other stuff.

Regarding Marvel Comics. I may be the only one who doesn't really like this idea. I like WDW to be all about Disney..not comic books. IOA already has that stuff, I don't know what they can do to make it blend in with WDW. Unless they create an entire new park? Still, since IOA has it, why would WDW want to have it? Maybe Disney will try to make IOA tear all of their stuff down!

I have a son and he cannot stand the princessness of Disney, either. We would go to go on TWO rides, RnRCoaster and ToT. The price was TOO much for two rides so we spent the last 8 years in Universal.

Heck, I'm female and can't stand all that princess stuff! :lmao:

what about the husbands and single males (not necessarily dad's either)?

mom's had that contest a while back....

I keep hearing that there isn't enough for boys but people keep going back so it must have something. My son loves disney. *shrug* Personally I think it's pretty evenly split.

EE, toy story mania, buzz lightyear, stitch, potc, peter pan, splash mountain and Btmrr are not girly, the barnstormer, dumbo and aladdin are gender neutral, the pirate cruises at the resorts (GF I think...). There are a good mix of boy characters for meets. Epcot, tomorrowland and the majority of dhs are boyish. AK is gender neutral too.

in the press conference announcing the purchase of Marvel comics, they specifically mentioned, it being an opportunity to provide more for boys,

also in the story I read about the fantasyland renovation they mentioned more exposure of disney villains for boys..
so I think they are very aware that they need to reach out to that group
