Consumer Credit Counseling

Does anyone know of a reputable company that helps with debt consolidation or counseling? I googled it and found many, but I don't want to pick just anything. We've already refinanced our house, so I'm not wanting to do that again. I just need to get out of the vicious credit card cylce. I really appreciate any help you all may offer. TIA!!!

First try to work out something with your credit card companies, many will work with you on a reduced APR/payment program.

If you do decide to go through CCCS please pick a non-profit organization, many of those CCCS companies are there to make money not to help you.

ETA: Pick up the phone book first, not the internet... look under Credit Counseling in the yellow pages, Non-profits will have it listed in their ads....

After trying to negotiate with my CC on my own, I decided to go through a CCCS. I went with Cambridge Credit Counseling based in Mass. They negotiated my rates for me and it was a great few years paying off my debts with them. If I had to do it all over again (though I hope to never be as bad as I was again) I'd go through them. They have a website too, so you can get info for them there.
