Construction Noise at Ramada Maingate - how bad is it?

Who's stayed here recently? How bad is the noise during the day? They are aware we have concerns, and have noted that we would like a 'quiet room' on our reservation.

We're booked it for 4 nights from 8 Dec, arriving from Aus into LAX at 6am, so are going to need afternoon naps to help with the adjustment in time zones. I'm worried that the noise through the day will mean we won't be able to get to sleep in the afternoon. Should I make a 'back-up' booking at another hotel just in case? The Tropicana seems to be close as well but not sure if it'll be far enough away to be any quieter. (Would love to book DLH, but not in the budget) Opinions anyone?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me first hand how bad the construction noise is.

I'm at the Maingate right now. I'm sitting in the room right now. No construction noise. Even during the day it was fairly quiet in the room. It might depend where your room is located. We are in the front.

Thank you so very very much - that is wonderful news :thumbsup2. I wasn't looking forward to changing our accom bookings a week from our trip.

We were there this week....Sun-Wes. We were in the very back......literally the room right next to the construction. It was crazy loud. Hard to hear TV, room shaking/vibrating, etc. But I didn't know it was going on ahead of time, and didn't ask for a quiet room. Notes were taped to our door, warning us about the noise. It said they would start working at 8:30. First morning it started at 8:00am (sounded like bombs going off - they were digging up a concrete foundation). We never came back for afternoon naps, so we only heard the morning noise and I can't comment on the afternoons. Hope your room is quieter!!!

Thanks, but... Oh dear - must make sure we have quiet room at front when we check in then. My emails from the Ramada have been very good - they've been very upfront saying they can't guarantee what the noise levels will be - it depends on what's actually being done at the time, but they have noted we need a quiet room & will do their best to accommodate our request. I figure if we go to check-in and the noise is terrible, then we'll just go elsewhere. There's rooms available at the Tropicana or the Hojo (even tho it's a longer walk & it'll cost a bit more).

if anyone else has experiences at the ramada in the last few weeks to share - please do so. Thank you :-)

Loving the DISBoards App on my iPhone :-D

We're staying at the Best Western Anaheim Inn and I believe it is right next door to the Ramada? Do you think noise is a problem at the BW? Is there an area that may be quieter at the BW that we should ask for? Thank you!

I am hoping there will be a timetable soon on when this construction will be completed. I would love to consider this property for our July 2013 trip. CCI & this motel are the two we are considering. I like the fact this motel is just a little bit closer & will have some new areas.

The last thing I saw on their Facebook page was they have a projected finish time of phase 1 by summer 2013... and there are two phases. I would look for updates on Facebook if I were you.

We were in room 122 over the weekend. It was NOISY. Weirdly noisy. Nothing obviously construction-y, just loud noise.

And your post was my ONLY notification that there was construction, because I booked through hotels.com. After I saw your post, I went to their site and their FB, to find out more. Other than that I was given NO indication that this was happening, not at checkin, not with a note, nothing.

We had issues at checkin that would make sense except for it never being an issue with other hotels, and while they were nice about it it was annoying. (hotels.com only has a spot for ONE guest name, so if you are arriving at different times, skip the annoyance and choose that name wisely). They are more strict than other, fancier, hotels have ever been with that sort of booking with us booking that way.

The pool water felt cold even though it should have been a good 20 degrees warmer than the outside air. Jacuzzi/hot tub/spa (whatever you call it) was nice but there was actual foam, like shampoo-smelling bubbles, when the jets were on. which doesn't happen with my brother's well-kept jacuzzi so it felt icky to me.

All in all it was OK, but not worth it IMO. I would stay at the Ramada Plaza around the corner before I'd go to Maingate again. Plaza is a Hotel vs Motel, has MUCH better breakfast (there was oatmeal at Maingate's free breakfast, and that was ALL we could eat there, oh and coffee in tiny styrofoam cups), and after breakfast their restaurant is an Indian place...bonus!

The construction was just the kicker that pushed us, well, ME, over the edge into not liking the place. I could have stayed at the convention center Hilton for $10 less per night, and wish I had.
