construction at AKL? or stay at OKW or SS

DH has agreed to a 4 night ADULTS ONLY trip for the end of January! (this will be our first adults only trip since our honeymoon!!! ) We've stayed at AKL before and loved it, but I'm curious about the construction noise lately and how it effects the viewing of the animals. With the discounted package that Disney is offering we could stay at OKW or SS from the same price as a standard view at AKL. We haven't stayed at either those before. Out of those three... which would you recommend? Which has the best transportation? I've heard that AKL is fairly good simple because they don't share with anyone else and there is only one bus stop. Correct? Doesn't OKW and SS have multiple stops within their resort? HELP!!

I would not chance the noise at AKL....

SSR would be a good choice for an adult trip.....

close to DTD and all the buses to go to any resort for dinner ADR'S...
they also have a spa...

the rooms are MUCH nicer than values or mods.

We had planned on staying at AKL for Christmas this year even with the construction. I had done alot of research on the matter and couldn't find anyone who really felt the construction effected their stay there in other than very minor ways. We did end up switching to SSR only because of budget restraints and a $1000 difference between two rooms at AKL and a 1 bedroom villa at SSR. That $1000 will buy our meals and alot of Christmas presents for DD.

We just returned from a stay at AKL from Nov. 9 - 12th. I heard not one noise of construction the whole time we were there. Also, we booked a standard room and got upgraded to a savannah room on the 4th floor. It's our favorite hotel on property. Even with the construction, it's only during the day and I can't imagine that would bother most since you are out of the room most of the day anyway. (well most people). I just love the ambiance of the hotel.

My DH and I stayed at OKW for 3 nights last January and it was perfect. Just
beautiful. We rented a car and that was great also. Both SSR and OKW have
walkways to DTD and boats that go there as well. We have stayed at SSR
many times dating back to when it was still the Disney Villas, then Disney Institute, etc. You can't go wrong either place. Enjoy!

Love SSR and OKW but my most restful vacations have been the ones at OKW where we had a huge porch with a golf course view to have our breakfast. Lovely way to start each day...

haven't stayed in the lodge (inn) rooms only the villa - which by the way are the BEST!!!

the noise wasn't a problem - besides with a standard view room you won't be seeing any out on your balcony - you will have to be walking to find the animals.

so you will be just fine!

that say - did they offer you studios or 1-bedrooms.

a studio at OKW has 2 queen beds -

a studio at SSR has 1 queen and a double sleeper sofa.

if it is you and your Spouse - would probably go with SSR - just because of the sleeper sofa.

now if they offered you a 1-bedroom - go with OKW - definitely bigger.
