I have heard rumors that there might be an Australia being added to AK soon or a 'Beastly Kingdom'. Is this true? Any more details on it? please let me know! =)

The current talk is that Disney is bringing over the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" attraction from Tokyo Disney and copying it in Animal Kingdom.

A new park has been rumored- it's gone by "Beastly Kingdom," "Night Kingdom," and now "Jungle Trek." But it's not for certain yet. Here are some links about it:

And here's another article that is more about "Beastly Kingdom" being actually inside AK.

Hope that stuff is somewhat what you were looking for!

I read throught those about night kingdom or whateve and I am just not sold on it...to me its catering more to the well to do crowd and not you average tourist. That may be what Disney is shooting for...:confused3 ...I for one can afford to go but I doubt I would shell out 300 bucks per person to attend. Heck we have yet to see Discovery Cove...

What is everyones thought and opinions of this concept???....Although the originial idea sounded more appealing to me, the nighttime hours etc...I dont know...it just dont seem worht it to me...I usually spend abot 4000 bucks on a 7 to 8 day vacation not a bank breaker but thats plenty for a vacation in my mind...but to add another 1200 for a family of 4... ...for a 5 hour experience...Sorry

I don't see anything big happening for a while. Journey to the Center has great reviews, so this would be a great addition, even though I don't see how it fits AK - sounds more like a Studios attraction. In fact, the studios is still the place that needs the most help (IMO), and another blockbuster or rebuild of Star Tours would really help.

Anything of this scale anywhere would take a few years to build. That doesn't mean the ideas are being scripted right now. However, I really don't see anything new going in until the economy picks up and Disney is assured its guest base is going to be continuing. The ideas might even be ready to go but I don't see anything happening for at least a year if not longer. And that's just to announce it, not to have it completed.

As far as a Beastly Kingdom along the lines of a Discovery Cove (pay lots more money for an almost exclusive experience), Disney can go ahead and build one. I won't use it and there will still be all the original parks to enjoy instead. It would be fine as an addition and if people want to pay more money, go ahead. As long as nothing else changes that much.

I really enjoyed 'Journey' and would love to see it and '20k Leagues' incorporated into WDW ala Mysterious Island. Unfortunately, it was very expensive to build so I'm not sure they would be willing to copy it.

BTW, there were lots of wacky animitronic critters in 'Journey', so it would not be unimaginable to build it at AK.

i've also heard a Gateway to Aisa "land" expansion at AK, but noting concrete.

Beastly Kingdom (or the fantasy area) was supposed to be part of the original AK plans (hence the Dragon artwork upon entering the park in different areas). The Night Kingdom has been scrapped...because of the economy.

Disney is cutting back Fantasmic to twice a week for the foreseeable future, they are laying off different live acts around the resort, and they are seeing a dip in hotel reservations...until the economy turns around, I'm afraid we're not gonna see anything REALLY huge done for a while.

Thanks for the help. I hope the addition will be just as great as the rest of the park! =) :cool1:

Rumors, rumors, rumors. OLD rumors, in fact. Don't look for anything big anytime soon at WDW............

There was another thread in the Parks board in which a CM said that they ARE clearing a large area of land just north of the AK, and said it is NOT the Western Way/Flamingo Crossings project. Of course, this is just a random CM posting.

The area just north of where the Maharajah Jungle Trek is has been cleared for a while, but mostly just seemed like a maintenance/staging area - you can see it on Google Earth/Maps. True north from the park would be the tree farms, and that's up past the safari - without much of a way to funnel guests up there unless the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch was expanded.

FYI "Night Kingdom" was one of the recent names for the upcharge concept that was theoretically similar to Discovery Cove. I think a more recent name thrown out was Jungle Trek, used in some polls seen in the U.K.

Night Kingdom/Jungle Trek has been shelved for the time being... As for the new land in AK... rumor is Mysterious Island replacing CMM... Only time will tell, but, March-May was the the time frame for land clearing and construction to begin...

It may not be a secret, but does everybody know about it? I think it's kind of cool that it even made it on Wiki.

interesting. if knight kingdom IS replacing CMM then what will happen to festival of the lion king? I would like to see more done there though

I think an Australia themed land would be pretty cool with kangaroos, and koalas. And I could see a perfect tie-in to Finding Nemo with maybe an East Australian Current roller coaster. I also think an import of journey to the center of the earth would be cool for a potential beastly land/kingdom. And I think Disney will do some construction during this economic downturn since construction costs might be lower.
