Construction work at Walt Disney World slowed again in November, according to the latest monthly report from the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
Building-permit activity in the district, which oversees all of Disney World, fell 17 percent from November 2008. The value of projects permitted during the month dropped 54 percent from a year ago, tumbling from $10.5 million to $4.8 million.
The most expensive projects that were permitted in November included the installation of a new video and fire alarm system in the Dinosaur ride at Disneys Animal Kingdom (valued at $820,000), the addition of a new pizzeria in the Italy pavilion at Epcot ($713,000), and construction of a new visitors center at the soon-to-be-rebranded ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex ($259,000).
