I am seriously considering purchasing a DVC. I have been going down to WDW about twice a year for the last few years, 1 week long trip and one 4 or 5 day. So i really think it makes sense for us to get one.

A question I have is do DVC members get shut out of reservations. I really like the idea of getting a cheap flight and go down on short notice, maybe a month or two. Would that be a problem. I generally go down in the off season or regular season. Does Disney hold some villas for DVC members.

No, they don't hold villas. but if you are not traveling during peak times and you are not picky about which resort you get (you may end up at OKW and SSR a lot going last minute) you should be fine.

And to add to the last post, as long as you aren't planning on going for the Food & Wine Festival, holiday times or Spring Break.

Plus what WDW might consider peak times, might not always be peak times at DVC. For instance, the first two weeks of December are very low point times and get booked up 11 months out.

When the points available reservations get booked up, they are booked up. You will see DVC resorts available on the WDW website for a cash reservation, but not available at MS for points. Whenever a member uses points to stay at a Disney lodging (non-DVC) or the Disney Cruise line, a villa is given to Central Reservations to book for cash to pay for that non-DVC vacation. And now with Adventures by Disney, more will be sold by CRO.
