Considering skipping Epcot. Are we crazy?

We will only be at WDW for 4 full park days and w Soarin being closed. That really just leaves Test Track. My boys are all about the rides. We are thinking they may enjoy a 2nd day at MK for any rides they missed or want to to again.

I personally love Epcot but my boys (including the husband) would find living seas and the land really boring.

My husband is really leaning towards a 2nd MK day. I am unsure. Thoughts?

Given what you've said, I think you've answered your own question. Personally, I would miss Epcot, but a 2nd day at MK is pretty nice too.

I only went once where I didn't do MK for 2 days and I still feel sad about missing that 2nd day on that trip! Having said that...I assume your 4th day is AK. I always choose Epcot over AK. So, now when I do 4 days, I do 2 at MK, 1 at DHS and 1 at Epcot. Either way....MK for 2 days is probably best for you guys!

I would not skip epcot. i always enjoy it and even with soarin closed i would not miss it. Have you thought about park hopping. Start your day in MK and then finish off in Epcot where the food selection is much better?

I am assuming hopping is not part of your trip. If not, definitely go where you think your family will get the most out of each day. Maybe after your first day at MK you will have a better feel if everyone wants more MK.

You also might consider starting in Epcot with Test Track and Sum of all Thrills, then hopping the monorail to MK for the rest of the day.

I would lean towards MK, but I would play it by ear, see how everybody feels after the second day.

No, I wouldn't call you crazy. Not crazy, no.

Thanks everyone. No park hoppers this time and my 2 oldest boys really want to do Expedition Everest so they don't want to skip AK. That is our sleep in day with FP in the afternoon. Figured a half a day will be plenty and we'll likely be exhausted by day 3

We'll play it by ear (hee!) but my guess is the boys will want a 2nd MK day. Mama will just have to suck it up and make do w/o the yummy food at Epcot.

If I were in your shoes, I would skip Epcot. If Test Track is the only thing your boys are interested in this round, save it for a different trip when Soarin' is back up and the Frozen ride is open.

My family has never been big Epcot fans, either. Although maybe you could consider park-hopping and going to Epcot after Animal Kingdom closes (or you are done with it -- it's never been a full day park for my family).

Without Soaring and the Frozen ride ... Epcot doesn't have much to offer .. especially with families of younger children. I skipped Epcot on my last two short trips without hesitation.
It is also a park that is desperately searching for an identity.
If you are a DISNEY fan, until Frozen ride opens there is very little "Disney" at the park there besides a meet and Greet or two and Finding Nemo, so the appeal just isn't there.

Half the park is Disney Springs with a hefty cover charge and outdated tourist videos. There is nothing really unique or special about exotic foods anbd shopping from around the globe in this day and age .. you can find that anywhere.
The other half of the park is labeled "Future World" has very little to do with the Future any more and frankly just doesn't have many attractions anymore.

Considering that MK has about three times as many attractions as Epcot? Giving MK 2 or even 3 days and skipping Epcot is a no brainer.

It is why MK is always so crowded compared to all the other three parks (and is why Frozen, Pandora, Star Wars Land is being added in the next few years .. they neglected to add anything new to those parks for so long that people started skipping some of them).

When I do long weekend trips (3/4 days) we invariably skip Epcot as she is just not interested.

If you don't have hoppers and really aren't interested in World Showcase - I could easily see doing 2 days in MK over a day in Epcot particularly if they're of the age where they'll want a lot of the MK rides.

I will even skip MK before I will Epcot. Not everybody is the same though. If your party wont' like it and you don't have hoppers, try someplace else.

For me, Epcot is all about drinking around the world and hanging out. For your family, it sounds like another MK day might be a better use of time.

I agree with PP, I'd skip MK before Epcot. You didn't say when you would be there. If it is during F&G or F&W hubby and the boys might like to knosh their way around world showcase while you do your thing in the shops.
