Ok, this isn't until next november so ive got some time to think about it. I was just pricing up a trip with flights from the uk, car hire, Pop Century and DDP for 2 weeks as a package through Virgin Holidays. I then priced up for the same trip with Virgin Atlantic, seperate car hire, a Boardwalk Studio Villa using rented DVC points at 12 dollars per point with added DDP and it works at roughly the same amoun. The flights and car hire work out roughlythe same so it mus be the dvc points. Is that even possiblle.

Yes, in the DVC rental market it is possible to see that kind of comparison. You get the more premier resort. However, be aware that you do not get daily maid service.

However, you do get the trash emptied and new towels on Day 4, then a full cleaning on Day 7, then trash & towel again on Day... 11, I think it is.

We have rented points twice and found it to be a wonderful experience and a better value than paying full price at even a Moderate resort, in some seasons (but watch out - it might make you want to buy into the Club! :lmao:)

That is a good point about the Maid Service. I do like the luxury of said service, however, I heard that you can pay the extra for this should you so choose.

As for buying DVC, we are very tempted by this for the future, but we have a multitude of questions so that is a whole other thread!!

Yes, you can request full daily service for any one or more days you are there at $30/$45/$60 per day for a studio/1BR/2BR.

Not quite correct. If you stay 7 nights or fewer, you get your towels replaced and the trash removed on day 4 with checkin as day 1. If you stay 8 nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and your trash removed and towels replaced on day 8. Then the cycle repeats.

OP, if you are looking at Nov 09, you need to be making a reservation right now. That is very popular with DVC members, especially Thanksgiving time, and they make reservations at 11 months out at their home resorts. There may be little or no availability at this point for Nov 09.

If you are looking at Nov 10, you need to have a member ready to make that reservation in Dec 09.

Yes you are correct

Renting Points is an awesome way to do Disney. We have done a one bedroom on rented points the last three years, wouldnt do it any other way

$12pp is the highest you would pay. Figure $10pp would be the lowest.

So about $11pp would be a good guess

The real cheap points, like $8 and $9 are usually SSR developer points.

Just be prepared, you will have to pay upfront and will have to trust the owner, which can sometimes be very nerve racking, especialy since you will pay the full amount about 9-11 months in advance

But it is wel worth it IMO:yay:

this thread may have been written with you in mind: [thread=1669863]Considering Renting from a DVC Member?[/thread]

Thank you I will go and check out that thread now. We are planning for Nov 2010, so we are ok for a little while, just an uberplanner I'm afraid. However, whilst we are not looking at Thanksgiving, we are looking at Nov 4-18th, so a fairly long stay (we are from the UK) during the Food and Wine Festival and we are looking at Boardwalk which I assume will be quite popular at that time.

Sometimes you can make an offer on points. Also, if you are renting a larger number of points, some owners lower the price. For example, if they have 300 points to rent at $11/pt., they may lower the price to $9.50/pt. if you rent all the points or over a certain amount. Good Luck!:goodvibes
