Considering Purchasing BWV/HHI

Our family is considering purchasing a DVC timeshare and we have some questions:

We prefer the Boardwalk area, but would also probably be interested in staying in HHI in the summer. Our preferred time to vacation in Disney is December. If we buy at BWV, does anyone know how hard it would be to get in HHI in the summer (7 month window)? Or should we buy at HHI, but we're afraid that the 11 month window at BWV is valuable based on the popularity of the resort.

Is it hard to get BWV in Dec without the 11 month window?

Also any pros or cons buying through Disney vs. a resale?

Pros or Cons to BCV vs. BWV

Thanks for all your help:D

You are looking at very busy times (definitely the busiest time for HH) at both resorts. The 11 month window would be very useful for each of these resorts. You might split your amount of purchase points to give you the 11 month booking window for both; then you could bank or borrow if you didn't have enough annually for your total vacation time. HH has more 2 bedroom villas than any other, I believe, so sometimes at 7 months, people get one of those. There has recently been a post about this, and the poster got HH at 7 months out. As for resale or Disney direct, HH is still available through Disney for a few use years, but BWV is available through resale.

As far as pros or cons with BCV vs BWV

BCV- pros: 1. You can still by through Disney, do not have to do through resale (not sure how much of a pro this is but it may be to you.) 2. Resort is much newer. Just opened this year so everything is "fresh". 3. Stormalong Bay pool
cons: 1. You cannot get a "Boardwalk" view as villas are set behind the regular Beach Club Resort.

BWV- pros: 1. Directly on Boardwalk so "Boardwalk" views are available. 2. More action directly out your door. 3. Buying through resale you may be able to get a better deal $$ wise.
cons: 1. Resort is older, although they have been udergoing renovations.

They both share easy access to Epcot and MGM and the room layouts are very similar.

Your 2 choices are pretty much exclusive of each other. What's best for you depends on your overall habits. My first choice also would be 2 recommend buying some of both. If not, decide what's most important. One thing to think about is that if you have HH, you can get something at WDW likely at the time you want even if it's not consistently BWV.

I agree with the others who said splitting the points and buying at each resort would be best. Find the best price on each since you are already planning ahead.

I am a firm believer in the waitlist, however, I've seen it work for MANY people.

Kind regards,
Shontell

Our home resort is HH. We have now stayed at OKW and BWV and have reservations for BCV as well. The only remaining resort for us to try out is VWL, although we have no real desire to do so. Perhaps it is due to the fact that we have not attempted to go during Christmas, NYE or Easter, which we are not interested in doing anyway, but we have been well served with our HH ownership. Conversely, we tend to go to HH during periods of high occupancy, and the 11 month window has always assisted us. Splitting between the two may be a good idea, but only if you are purchasing a fair number of points for each resort.

Good luck with your purchase(s)!

I would buy at Hilton Head, the 11 month window is a definate plus for the summer vacation, at least at WDW if you couldn't get into to BWV or BCV, you still have VWL and OKW, if you couldn't get into Hilton Head, no other DVC in the area.
