considering purchase

I have considered buying into the DVC on and off for several years. Im interested in people's opinions on the following, which is what keeps putting me off-
Part of what I like about being on vacation in Disney is being in a luxury hotel (yes, even the All Stars are luxury compared to some places) where my bed is made for me every day, the bathroom is cleaned and the ever so talked about clean towels every day. I also like the anticipation of "sometimes" finding special scenes and towel animals left by mousekeeping. I like having the option to order room service and doing my own cooking and laundry really dosnt sound very "vacationy" to me. Am I correct in continuing to refrain from buying into the program? Its hard because I am a total Disney Nut and its killing me NOT to be a member of this exclusive and very Disney club, but I just dont see how it can be for me. Right?

you can get daily housekeeping - it will just cost your extra - BWV, VWL and BCV - all have room service - just like the resorts - OKW has pizza delivery (like the moderates)

It takes me about 2 minutes to make up the bed - I don't like people in my room when I am there = much less when I am not - so no housekeeping works very well for me.

You also don't need to tip - sometimes I do, sometimes I don't - if this was regular type housekeeping you would definitely need to tip.

please kept in mind - because the guest are generally members - the DVC resorts are kept very clean - or members would be screaming - so I won't worry about that.

Also just because there is a kitchen and laundry (in the one bedrooms and up) does not mean you have to use them.

We had them this past trip and we did one load of laundry, and only heated up some left overs in the microwave. It was still nice to have them, the fridge to keep soda in the room, and having the kitchen for stroing snacks and dishes for eating the snacks and glasses for the soda.

And the LARGER rooms are nice to spread out and relax in.

I would strongly recomend renting points to try out a DVC resort. The only problem is after you do you will buy.

Again, like the previous poster stated, you can get daily housekeeping, just for an additional fee. So, if you wanted, your room would be clean, bed made up, etc. I personally like not having housekeeping everyday. It's just so nice to come back and not have to worry if someone is there. The bathrooms don't get dirty in a day, it takes a minute or two to straighten the bed, and I just throw the towels in the washer when I leave in the morning, and in the dryer when I get back, really no work there. BWV, VWL, and BCV all have full room service menus, but it's nice to be able to just enjoy cereal and milk sometimes with all the other heavy meals WDW has to offer. You truly feel like you're in a home, and it's just so relaxing!!! There is a full kitchen in my one bedroom everytime I check-in, but I couldn't tell you how to work most things in it!!! We basically eat a few breakfasts (basically cereal and milk, no cooking there) and maybe a couple of lunches(deli sandwiches, again no cooking) in the room, that's it. I am on vacation!!!!

I agree with r8ingbull. It would be great for you to rent out some DVC points, and try out a 1BR unit to see what you think. Then you'd know one way or the other. Better than hesitating and wondering as more time passes by. So many people (myself included) have said, "I only wish I'd bought in sooner." If it's truly not for you, then you'll be at peace about it and not wonder any more. If you fall in love with it, you can start pursuing a DVC contract of your own.

I was also skeptical about not having daily housekeeping when I first bought in. But it has not bothered me in the least. I like knowing that others will not be coming in my room, except on housekeeping day(s).

Our thinking was the same as your at first. We avoided the DVC booths, thinking we couldn't afford it, what we found out was, we couldn't afford "not" to have it. Like was said earlier, we only wish we had joined sooner. Six months after we got our membership, we bought more points!!!
