I have been to WDW countless times and have used DME, but have never had them handle my luggage.

I will fly Southwest and arrive at MCO at 4:55pm. If I go ahead and put the luggage tags for DME on my suitcases, about what time do you think I can expect them at my resort?

Is it just as easy as putting on the yellow tags, even though I am flying Southwest? :confused3

Need some guidance/reassurance.

Plan on having your bags arrive in your room around 8:30 p.m., plus or minus 90 minutes — so probably between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. In any case, bring a carry-on with valuables, medications, fragile items, and anything you'll need right away. You don't have to be in your room when the luggage is delivered.

Yes.

There is no such thing as a participating airline list for DME. There is only a participating airline list for the optional Remote Airline Check-in service at the end of your WDW stay.

There are three big advantages of using the yellow tags instead of retrieving you own luggage at baggage claim:
  1. You can go straight from the arrival gate to the DME Welcome Center, so you'll typically be on an earlier motorcoach to your resort.
  2. You don't have to drag your luggage through the airport and through the resort.
  3. Disney pays the inbound luggage handling gratuity.

We are getting a rental car so can we let them pick up our bags and take them to our resort if we don't ride the bus and have our bags waiting for us when we check in the resort that evening after spending the day at Sea World?

Thanks!!

No, ME isn't a luggage service. They require that you check in for the bus ride.

Horace Horsecollar, thank you for the reply. :sunny: I guess I will go ahead and put on the yellow tags and try out the luggage service. We stay one night at Pop Century, then head on over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the remainder of our stay. I just hope I get my luggage before I go to bed that evening (not till 11pm or so). Thanks again! :thumbsup2

We returned from our trip about 3 weeks ago and we flew Southwest, with our flight arriving at MCO at 12:30 p.m. We rode the ME to our resort (GF- arriving at 1:30 p.m.), checked into sugarloaf(1:45) was upgraded and transferred to the RPC - 2:20), went to eat to kill time waiting for our room to be ready, was shown to our room about 4:20 p.m.
We brought our dinner clothes in our carryon luggage (as well as our cameras, meds, and swimsuits)
As we were walking through the lobby on our way to dinner (about 8:00 p.m.) we passed our luggage on a bell services cart.
When we arrived back from our dinner at the HDDR about 11 p.m., the luggage was in our room.
So, it took MUCH longer than the 3 hours they estimated for us to receive it, but we had all our necessities with us, so it wasn't a big deal.

In fairness, Stauncie, and while that was an annoyingly long time, it's as likely (if not moreso) that the delay was due to Bell Services at the GF - or even due to your upgrade combined with a possible miscommunication between there and the Front Desk (aka, your bags may have gone to the original room first - and the error not discovered until somebody was assigned to that room).

You know, DH and I wondered about that.. all the way to dinner, but it was just chitchat. It really wasn't an inconvenience because, we had read so much here on the DIS board, about delayed luggage, that we packed everything we thought we would need in our carryons. We would have been good for another 24 hours.
It was just kinda funny seeing our luggage passing us in the lobby!
