Hi all! DH and I are looking into DVC. We have been researching both resale and direct and do not feel that the new restrictions on resale will affect our use of points. We do have a few questions though. My parents are looking in to buying in with us. Is this possible? Could all 4 names (me, DH, mom & dad) be on the deed? Could the deed be in my name and my mom's name? What affect would any of this have on the benefits such as discounted AP? Oh and just to note, my parents do not live with us.
Thanks for any help/suggestions you may have!

All four can be purchasers together and on the deed. That would give all any DVC perks, such as ability to get discounted APs. Putting your and mom's name on contract and deed should also accomplish that because benefits go to owner and those in immediate family living with an owner. Putting just your or your and spouse's name would mean parents living elsewhere would not be entitled to any DVC perks. Note the new rules on resale purchases are the first time DVD has decided to treat resales different from new purchases and the problem we now face is whether they are done making restrictions. For example, they could determine that those who purchase resale don't get discounted APs. We just don't know yet where this new and maleficent anti-resale and anti-member policy is going.

thaks for replying. My wife posted the origional thread.

Do you think that any future restrictions would be effective from the date they are made for resales or backdated to the march 20th 2011 date.

What i mean is if you buy a resale after the march 20th date we already know what the restrictions would be. If they change it again next year would the resale purchasers be grandfathered in to the time period march 20th to lets say jan 1 2012 when they change them again? This could get very very confusing if they continue to modify restrictions to resale members.

Anything on future restrictions if any other than one already announced would be pure speculation. No one knows what they are going to do or whether they will adopt something that is retroactive. I am guessing, however, that their lawyers told them they were on safer grounds for a legal challenge by adopting only a future restriction as they did. One reason I suspect that is because Jim Lewis, the head of DVD for several years now, would undoubtedly have chosen retroactive if he thought he could get away with it. He goes by another name when it comes to choosing doing anything that may harm existing members -- the Prince of Darkness.
